Here goes your magnificent MVP. Distinguishing himself even among all-time greats.

Niggas actually doubled curry for that final shot leaving Durant and Booker totally open.
There's a conversation to be had about how curry is guarded versus other all stars.....
Playing alongside steph leaves people open, and makes scoring a lot easier.
That the Gravity we talking about....

Lol, that's exactly how you guard a shooter who's hot. Whether it's Curry or Buddy Hield.

And in the history of the game, no one has been guarded as brutally as LeBron has. I don't need to show you clips.

Ogbeni get out.
He didn't deserve that MVP.
Steph scored the highest points and was their best player in their most important games....
Steph got robbed again....

At this point you should understand you're wasting your time debating this guy. He could make Savannah jealous the way he rides LeBron.

The Chef entered a zone and everybody got out of his way and let him cook. I don’t think we have seen a more singular influence that totally changed a sport like Steph.

I watched the game live with my dad, who was rooting against USA, I guess he didn't learn from the semifinals. In his words "Ìgbéraga wọ́n ti pọ̀jù” (Their pride is too much and he found out why). I've never felt prouder of a country that isn't even mine. Watching him move from hating on these guys to being wowed is a memory I'll cherish forever.
But here's the thing—I didn't realize how blessed I was to witness those boys in action until I watched the game again. Na some people dey stress; those guys have mutual respect for one another.
Every basketball fan should be proud of the MVP and Steph who didn't shy away from putting the country on his back.
Kevin Durant and LeBron James let the man work his magic, but some smallfolk still think Steph is overrated. Putting the unanimous MVP and Jalen Brunson in the same sentence should attract some NL jail term to be honest. Ersan wouldn't even disrespect Steph like that.
Dem no suppose dey follow some people talk basketball tbh.

Ersan our guy that year!!!!!lol.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post because it spoke nothing but the absolute truth. Some people don’t know when to put certain things away. There is nothing insecurity cant do to some people. When that comparison, especially the Schroeder one came through (even though it was retracted, I think, it hit me on a different level) I just left this thread because e get the kain things wen pesin no suppose dey read after watching basketball dis long. I mean what are we doing here?

I am amongst the few Celtics fan, especially one who loves JT that say Tatum needs to shut it and just enjoy the moment. There is no way Kerr is going to play you ahead of the cats in front of you. It’s okay to want to play but it’s was not the time to start expressing open frustration with your Mum going public about it on SM.

He was KD’s Robin 4 years ago in Tokyo, the difference is, this is a super stacked team and he will get another run in 4 years to probably lead or be one of the leaders when the Olympics comes to Los Angeles, California.

I am happy we won, tell your popsy make e try again in 4 years. Lol.

Honestly, I don't think Lebron should have been MVP, same way I think steph should have been finals MVP in 2018 over KD. Because I think the voting should be based on their performance spread over the time period. In 2018, steph was the best player for the warriors in 3 of 4 games, KD was only better in 1 game but got finals MVP because he had more PPG.
Now lebron is winning FMVP because of his performance spread even though steph had a higher PPG and was more impactful in the more important/competitive game.
People would look at this olympics and remember it for those steph performances rather than anything lebron did. Anytime they think of the 2024 Olympics, the conversation would be based on what Steph did.....

Steph does not pad stats like LeBronze so I'm not surprised he would get chanced for the awards

Being a primary ball handler in such a loaded team means your assists can only go through the roof. Think of all the scorers in Team USA, only one man can't really play off the ball (we all know who)

Lots of misses by mediocre opponents also means LeStats can pad rebounds

I have to give the devil his due. LeBronze just like Luka, Harden have hacked basketball to where they could average a triple double in their sleep whether they win or lose in blowout fashion

The NBA has work to do, losing Lebron, Steph and Durant will cause a systemic shock to the league.
These guys are still the faces of the game.
Nothing you can do when the younger guys couldn't take the game and run with it. I will also blame the league for it's really poor job of marketing the talent.

Anyway they might have to endure a lull like post MJ era. That weird time on and off between 99-07 when basketball was in a bit of a purgatory

The Guards on the US Women's team were woeful today. I can see why some folks were demanding for the inclusion of Caitlin Clark. Not only do they need to change the Guard Roster, the coach also needs to be left in paris.

This Olympics came threw away all the new faces of the league talk that dominated last season. It demonstrated that there are levels to this stardom business. There are many all stars, some superstars but the circle of megastars is very small.

All stars are good players having a good season or two. Superstars are perennial all stars who have won titles , MVPs or have been close to winning a title. But the megastars have had so many years of excellence and charisma that they have transcended basketball, they are cultural icons who have shifted the game that even casuals know them. Players like Lebron and Steph come into your gym and turn it into theirs, your home fans turn to their fans grin, even the french fans started cheering after the barrage at the end.

Giannis, Jokic, Tatum, Jaleyn Brown Doncic and Embiid are still just Superstars

They allowed hate overshadow their critical thinking

To prove that their reason for not taking Caitlin was pure hate they lied that they didn't take her cos she was just a rookie

Taurasi was a rookie in 04
Parker was a rookie in 08
Breanna Stewart rookie in 16

All rookies and #1 picks that they took to the Olympics

There are at least 4 players that could have been left behind for Clark but it seems to me that they would rather that their league fails than for it to succeed with Caitlin being the face of it

This roster wasn’t built around the guards. This team was built around Aja Wilson and Breana Stewart, more so the former. This team wasn’t looking for a guard who will dominate the ball.

Caitlin’s time will come but it wasn’t going to be in this cycle. The Women’s team have looked dominant throughout the Olympics. The difference in the finals was the physicality of the French and that affected our execution. But again, they found a way to win which is what matters most.

Like I said. LeBronze has mastered the stats game.

There's no game in this tournament that the USA were losing and he came through and bailed them out but what he's mastered is doing enough for them stats to look impressive on the boxscore

If we're being objective. The last two games in particular I would list 3 players better than him, the Brazil game was a blowout, so basically group stage performances? undecided

But he's still the biggest name so they have to give him the award for peace to reign grin

Pay attention to that last graphic in particular. Those are the last 3 minutes of the France and Serbia game. We can categorically and definitely say USA don't win gold without Steph

Bro even AD went in 2012 on the Men's side.

She really should have gone in place of DT. Anyone who has caught a glimpse of this season's WNBA will tell you She is no longer the Turasi of Old and tbh I don't blame Her as She is almost 42. She should have had the decency to sit this one out instead they pushed for the elusive 6th Gold medal.

Let's even accept the Rookie thing for Clark for a sec, what's the excuse for Arike? You can't name more than 2 guards better than Her on that Team but She withdrew herself because of the Politics involved. The older heads have basically turned it into their own personal cabal. Thankfully this is their last dance.

They'll do well to ride the Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese hype. They better put to one side whatever dislike they have of Her and enjoy the money she is going to bring into the league.

Only the biggest of Caitlin Clark fans would clamour for the team to be built around Her when the Best player in the World Aja is on the same roster(not forgetting another Top 5 player in Breana). However you can't tell me She won't have done better than some of the guards on that Team. Heck the Coach pretty much glued DT's @$$ to the bench after the first 2 or so games.

Let's leave Clark aside for a Sec, what's the reasoning behind forcing Arike's hands to withdraw from the squad due to internal politics? I'm sorry from what I saw in the Olympics, Arike would have been at worse the first Guard off the bench for Team USA. She would have buried some of those threes Team USA were clanking all day long. Major props to them though for finding a way to win through adversity.

Forcing Arike to withdraw? Who forced Arike? Baba, Nobody forced Arike to withdraw, Arike withdrew on her own from pool selection, so there is absolutely no way anyone can or should sit anywhere to blame selection. I mean, she removed herself months before player selection, so why are we blaming USAB here? This isn’t even anywhere close to Jaylen Brown or Isaiah Thomas situation.

If Arike did not withdraw her self from selection and ended up not getting picked, then we can have a conversation about her exclusion. Arike may be right about politics in the selection process when it comes to USAB but that he always been a fact with USAB. USAB is powered by Nike and they are quite clear, they take who they want to. This isn’t the first time, heck Isaiah Thomas was excluded because Nike couldn’t risk pissing the GOAT and Magic.

On Caitlin again, I will be the first to tell you that there was no way in world, Caitlin would have gone to Paris and sat on the bench or not put the team under the pressure of playing differently than Reeve wants. Caitlin will get her time, the team will be built around her and that is why Nike wasn’t fussed about her exclusion.

I listed those three just to show anyone pushing that agenda that she's a rookie or whatever is full of crap. The reason she wasn't taken has absolutely nothing to do with basketball

Taurasi is completely cooked and shamelessly went for the tournament instead of yielding for the Next Gen of players. I don't understand what an extra Olympic medal which she was a complete non factor do for her legacy

Arike for just come play for Tigress jeje. I support struggling Nigerians going to represent other countries for better lives but the ones wey their leg stand well well for where them dey should be smart enough to play for Nigeria if they want the Olympic experience. I remember Ime Udoka and his sister Mfon were smart enough to do this

If they like let them fumble their last legitimate ticket to escape dependency on the NBA. Caitlin Clark is their last hope
