DeLaRue: Well, I don't have an ounce for your biases. For the record, it's called 'loan' and I'm sure you know what that means. Giving loan to students isn't as plausible as making school fees affordable so that both parents and student will benefit. Just remove that veil of bias in your mind, and you'd see better. Shalom! |

[quote author=Melagros post=131450320]COMRADES, everything about this government of APC is lie, believe me the students who'll benefit from this so-called loan will not represent 5% of the total students in the country and after sometimes, probably, 3-4 months maximum everything will crash Exactly 1 Like |

RealityKings: Yes, it may not take you beyond 2 weeks but it's something to those who are in need of serious assistance. When I was in school, I was into laundry business. I washed for people except during exams. I also engaged in selling shirts and trousers including jeans. So, the aim of the student loan is to reduce the burden on the student. Let's encourage ourselves and not discourage probably government will be encouraged to increase the #20,000 monthly stipend to like #30,000. It's good government has started from somewhere. 3 Likes |

Olabode211:It is interest free and when pay back time comes the real value of what is paid back will be diminished so it is effectively a subsidy On the other hand it helps to focus the minds of students to carefully choose what they study and how that will help them repay loans 1 Like |

JagabanB:its even better than giving all this humanitarian ministry people who will end up stealing the money. If the money for humanitarian ministry can be split into two and part use for this student loan scheme, it is far better than one ministry with no record of who is collecting the money 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: NELFUND: Varsity Students Celebrate, Stock Foodstuffs With ₦20,000 Loan by DeLaRue: 10:02pm On Aug 11 |
iammolise: That's not correct. My understanding is as follows (though I stand to be corrected): 1. The loan is not repayable until at least 2 years after your graduation and you start working. 2. If you get a job immediately after graduating, you don't even have to start repaying for another 2 years. 3. If you don't get a job for 5, 10 years or even longer, you don't have to repay the loan. 4. Your parents cannot be asked to repay the loan (I stand to be corrected), unless the student and his parents perpetuated a fraud when applying for the loan. This loan will put very little pressure on the students even after they graduate. I just can't see how any reasonable person can reject this innovative policy. |
