Anambra Begins Demolition Of Illegal Structures by adamusuleiman3: 7:07pm On Aug 11
Following the spate of building collapse, the Anambra State Government, through the state Physical Planning Board, has begun ‘Operation Show Your Building Permit’ and the demolition of illegal structures across the state.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Chike Maduekwe, disclosed this to journalists during the demolition of illegal structures at Ogbo-Oroma, off Port-Harcourt Road in Onitsha South Local Government Area of the state, on Friday.

Madueke added that staff of the ministry were harassed and threatened with miscreants when they came for their official assignment and were chased away.

He said, “A lot of people are taking the state government for granted by constructing buildings without permits. Most of the time, they avoid getting permits because the land is in dispute or they don’t have the proper documents.

“The government is there for the welfare of the people, developers must operate according to law from now on. Any building started without approval must be demolished because there have been enough signals and messages to the people but they kept ignoring them.

“We have commenced the exercise and will move to several places. There will be a lot of enforcement this week as directed by Mr Governor.”

The ASPPB chairman noted that defaulters would be arrested and charged in court, and that a window of August 1 to October 31 has been given as grace that will not attract a penalty.

This demolition is targeted at Yoruba people doing their legitimate business in Anambra just because they voted against Peter Agulu Hoebi

Take it down provided they started such structures without any form of government permit.

And if anyone shows they have some form of permit, they're entitled to some form of compensation provided the perpetrator represents the government in that capacity.

Lastly, ensure the perp gets jail time to discourage other fraudulent people in authority who grant permits for quick and easy money.

For a coastal state, proper drainage is non-negotiable. The aftermath of the flooding of 2012 after Cameroun opened their dam remains fresh.

Where are the tribalistic mongrels saying all manner of rubbish when the governor of Lagos State was doing the same?!
(They will all be silent now).
Bunch of hypocritical and hateful tins.
Spits.

Good Job Lagos State.
Good job Anambra State.
Illegal structure is a death trap itself.
It has sent many families to untimely death.
Imagine building on a route water is supposed to be flowing through?
Murderers everywhere.

What kind of witch-haunting is this? If they don't want Igbos in Anambra they should tell them. Why are they destroying their properties? Imagine developing a place with billions and you're coming to demolish it.

Nigeria has happened to them.

Yoruba is against Igbo!

The cases of illegal building and their demolitions have to be one of the most insanely idiotic control measure deployed by governments in only this part of the world.
No house is erected in one day.
Where was the government when the land was cleared,
foundation done,
Blocks laid,
Casting done
Iron work,
Plumbing work
Electrical
and even painting?

I don't want to believe government is interested in the pains the owners of such buildings will suffer rather enforcing compliance.

Dnt know yet if, Ogulutu of Anambra would release statement as usual.

At least, Ogulutu should keep on halucinating as if, he is presiding over the dot-nation.
