Of course the headless mob would always find faults in a damn good thing that's why each time they try, they end up sounding like dumb illiterates cum ignorants.

Not all common men will benefit even if it is a grant, if you want it to be sustainable as time goes, u know a grant won't suffice.
But the government can sustain living fat off the federation account.

Under this policy, the government pays the school fees. Parents pay ZERO school fees. On top of that, the government gives the student N20k per month.

And you are still not happy

For many of you people, it is all about the fact that your candidate did not win election.

You condemn any good thing done by the person that won.

If it was Ghana that introduced this policy, your type would be praising Ghana as a 'sane' country.

Well, I don't have an ounce for your biases.

For the record, it's called 'loan' and I'm sure you know what that means.

Giving loan to students isn't as plausible as making school fees affordable so that both parents and student will benefit.

Just remove that veil of bias in your mind, and you'd see better.
Shalom!

[quote author=Melagros post=131450320]COMRADES, everything about this government of APC is lie, believe me the students who'll benefit from this so-called loan will not represent 5% of the total students in the country and after sometimes, probably, 3-4 months maximum everything will crash

Exactly

Palmoil ____1200
5 Eggs ___1000

Data subscription ____2000
Airtime 1000

Total is 20,200

All this is excluding Transportation to school

It won't even last you 2 weeks before the 20 finish..

Yes, it may not take you beyond 2 weeks but it's something to those who are in need of serious assistance.

When I was in school, I was into laundry business. I washed for people except during exams. I also engaged in selling shirts and trousers including jeans.

So, the aim of the student loan is to reduce the burden on the student.

Let's encourage ourselves and not discourage probably government will be encouraged to increase the #20,000 monthly stipend to like #30,000. It's good government has started from somewhere.

It is interest free and when pay back time comes the real value of what is paid back will be diminished so it is effectively a subsidy

On the other hand it helps to focus the minds of students to carefully choose what they study and how that will help them repay loans

So, it is a bad thing for the government to pay ALL your school fees for the 4 or 5 years you spend in a University?

It is also a bad for the government to ALSO pay directly into your account N20,000 per month throughout the 4 or 5 years that you are in University?

All of that is useless abi?

You people are never happy with any good news.

Good. Na now I hear the story well.

As for all your other stuff u spewed, it's a Sunday and I'm feeling generous, I'll let them slide. Besides, I am not one to not admit when I don't have all the facts of a matter.

Be grateful for little things. We didn't have this opportunity when we were in school. Your parents are the only source of resources for you. These food items can save a drowning man. Haba!

JagabanB:

It is a loan, that pays the tuition fee of everyone who apply and is successful with the process, the 20k is monthly stipends.
Once you are successful, your tuition fees will be paid and you get 20k monthly, which you will pay back by giving 10% of your income 2 years after your NYSC.

Modified according to your modified reply:
The loan is for ease of academics not for investments.
U don't take academic loan for investments in any country.
its even better than giving all this humanitarian ministry people who will end up stealing the money. If the money for humanitarian ministry can be split into two and part use for this student loan scheme, it is far better than one ministry with no record of who is collecting the money

That's not correct.

My understanding is as follows (though I stand to be corrected):

1. The loan is not repayable until at least 2 years after your graduation and you start working.

2. If you get a job immediately after graduating, you don't even have to start repaying for another 2 years.

3. If you don't get a job for 5, 10 years or even longer, you don't have to repay the loan.

4. Your parents cannot be asked to repay the loan (I stand to be corrected), unless the student and his parents perpetuated a fraud when applying for the loan.

This loan will put very little pressure on the students even after they graduate.

I just can't see how any reasonable person can reject this innovative policy.

The loan is not for them to live like kings. It’s majorly to pay their schools fee and still have a stipend to play around with. The loan should also not be too much so that the burden of repayment won’t be much. The N20k stipend is minus the school fee that is paid to the school directly.

Again, it’s a loan. If you don’t need it, don’t take it.

I hope Nigeria had more people with your kind of mindset.

There is hope...
