I've been observing some people's profile and ive seen some that joined as far back as 2010... I swear then i wasn't as 'wise' as i am nw. We also have different reasons for joining- some to beg,some to sell or advertize their wares,some to defraud others,some to find love or commit adultery/fornication, some just to be updated with the latest happenings(my category).
So what's your reason for joining nairaland and what device did you join up with.

I joined dis forum july this year,,i came across this space on google when i was asking question on the advantages and disadvantages of a girl staying with her boyfriend........i joined to get updated with the current news and happening,because my boyfriend sized my facebook and asked me to stay off social media,,and am using a small botten phone duo,,,i really like this forum becuz have notice a lot of changes in me,,am current now in politics,,am now my boyfrnds gist partner,cuz am always updating him about Tinubuuu

Then, the most active members were corporate workers and Nigerians based abroad (mostly in the UK and US). As Andriod-powered phones got cheaper due to the introduction of Tecno, Infinix and ZTE by the Chinese, many Nigerians were able to connect to the Internet. This was around 2012 - 2014. The "garri wars" started during this period. The proliferation of Andriod devices is a major reason I wonder why many Nigerians, largely out of ignorance and Western indoctrination, criticise China these days. If not for the Chinese, MANY Africans would not have been able to connect to the Internet at the touch of a screen and with the device on their palms. Then, one popular Nairalander - Bluetooth2 - boasted how Instagram could only work on IOS devices. Me sef, I vowed not to use a Chinese-made phone until my HTC One M8 was stolen.

I was searching for information on Google and results from Nairaland came top. I liked the discussions they had. Some of which were tribal laced (Dayokanu based in the US was a major tribalist), but laced with a bit of "intellectualism". I cannot accurately recall the phone I used, but it was one of those Sony phones next to the Xperia class of phones.
