My brother, your false comment is exactly why Nigeria is where it is today. You do not go around slandering people without ample evidence. That you have not seen my comments here does not mean l don't comment or follow. 1. During u20, wafu zone B qualifiers 2 years ago in Niamey, l was updating this thread with happenings on the flying eagles camp. When our striker ( Ahmed) collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, l was the person who informed this thread on his condition in the hospital. 2. That you do not know me does not mean others don't know me. People like safarigirl know me and we chat on personal note. 3. During covid 19, l did giveaway on nairaland. You can check my nairaland postings. Beremx was the person who dispatched the money into the beneficiaries accounts. Again, learn how to talk to people because l am not the type you can insult around. Marjoribanks: 13 Likes 1 Share |

Kog45: Yeah, I actually saw the original post on Facebook but had to update it to include players of the 90s and 2000s. Kudos to Ernest Okonkwo for pioneering nicknaming of Nigerian players, but my point is that nicknaming still continued after Ernest Okonkwo was gone. People like Larry Echiejile later Isamuje, Bimbo Adeola, Akinloye Oyebanjo and co also continued the tradition. For the 90s asides the ones you mentioned there were still some other popular ones like: The Head master (Adepoju), The bull (Amokachi), Gentle Giant (Okechukwu), Okada (Tijani), Serezo (Eguavoen), even Peter Rufai was nicknamed Dodo Mayana by the 90s commentators. It was Larry that nicknamed Finidi Finito and the name stuck. "The one I call Finito"! (In Larry's voice ) There was even one guy called Benjamin Chukwuka Onwuachi that during an interview with Larry, his father called him "investment" and Larry picked it up as a nickname and started calling him "Investment" My best memories of Ernest Okonkwo were at the 1987 FIFA U17, 1989 FIFA U17 and U20. I think he also ran commentaries at the Algiers 90 AFCON before he passed on. NTA commentaries have never remained the same. 3 Likes |

Napoleon55: The only nickname here that seems to be popular is "Senior man Kels" and that was given to him by his team mate Ndidi I think. And yes, Yekini had some other nicknames as you rightly posted. |

Marjoribanks:Like you, my antenna was raised when I saw his giveaway post but I took the time to go through his profile and read all his post in the forum. Dude has been consistent with this detribalization thing and even did a 20k monthly giveaway for the most detribalized poster in politics section a while back and he delivered. Long story short, as far as I can tell from his post history, he's legit. The bigger issue is how to set up acceptable guidelines/rules for this 100k year-end giveaway for the most detribalized poster in this thread. Final word - Be slow to post and be quick to dig. This own goal you scored would have been avoided if you had gone through the OP's profile and investigated his activities on Nairaland. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Icon4s:Peter Rufai got the name Dodo Mayana during 1982 Afcon in Libya and it was given to him by fans during training….Dodo meant SWEET and Mayana TOMORROW…Ernest gave Mutiu Adepoju headmaster…Eguavoen Cerezo was in the late 80s. My point given Nigeria players nicknames in a stylish way dies with Ernest Okonkwo,am not disputing others but guess what none of them got closest to Ernest Okonkwo. Check it out Rufai explained how he got Dodo Mayana 3 Likes 1 Share

[q unuote author=ChrisKels post=131473508] No I won't be disposed but not to worry. There is no rush because we have capable hands who have contributed immensely to the growth of this thread without causing troubles. Mrs Humility, Maidaboi, Danielnino and TheSupernerd(if him go get chance) are the best people for the job. Danielnino especially has handled such matters before during our annual awards. Out of these four and other members who have been consistent for years, we can get someone to do the job. If they reject it, then we can consider any of these new monikers flying around since this offer was made, but that will be after much scrutiny. [/quote] OK then. Any of the above mentioned monikers should please help us if they have chance. 1 Like |

lelion: I love what you're doing most especially in the area of promoting non-tribalism in football and politics. It is very necessary because the foremost thing that has militate against Nigerians progress is not corruption per se it is tribalism and religion fanactism. I will gladly work with you not as a beneficiary but as one of those that will assist in picking the beneficiaries. If the money can be split please into like 2 or 3 so that more people can benefit. It will go a long way. Just a suggestion Brother Thanks 2 Likes 1 Share |

Thank you my brother. Whatever the house agree on, l am ok with it. Some people do not realize that over 80% of our problems in Nigeria are caused by tribalism, nepotism, religious Intolerance and lack of love. We have great people in every sector of life who can make our country great, but the above mentioned points always make us go for the wrong guys which has render our Nigerian space comatose. Again, people should realize that l am not doing any giveaway here because almost all the guys here are very succesful in their various fields. Rather, l noticed that once in awhile, some few people try to bring tribalism here which Can destroy this our beautiful football space. So, it is my own little way to control tribalism here. I believe, if all of us here should be preaching " NO TO TRIBALISM" in our various communities and space, we will make Nigeria a better place in our own little ways. For those who followed or read about the Rwanda génocide of the Hutus and tutsis, you we understand at what scale tribalism is bad and no country develops with such. humility33: 6 Likes |

Thank you bro for supporting the initiative. Even if you believe no one is truly detribalized in real life, we here can work towards creating detribalized Nigerians. Nothing is impossible. semid4lyfe: 3 Likes |
