Hehehe! Just like the privatisation of NEPA to GENCOs/DISCOs, another policy somersault with translocation from one corrupt band of looters to another. This change of name means nothing as far a power improvement is concern. 3 Likes |

Still processing the information... If I understand correctly, NBET hitherto, has been the one making GenCos generate irrespective of whether the DisCos distribute and optimally pay for power. Now NBET is out of the way. Gencos Can switch off if the DisCos dont pay up. The DisCos now have to face the consumers and see that they sell profitably on time to meet their one-to-one obligations with GenCos. NBET and NERC will try to act like CBN/NIBSS to banks or like NCC to Telcos in the power sector. Nothing Radical. Just a way of removing power subsidy without noise. 19 Likes |

I hope it works for the masses...? I noticed those that usually mock the government with this statement "the government will work for me and my family" have forgot the statement , I've not seen them using it again. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Nigeria Electricity Trading Changing To Bilateral Trading By Habu Sadeik by CodeTemplar: 2:57pm On Aug 13 |
Racoon:Bilateral trading I am guessing was choosen as the name because the DisCos now trade more directly with the GenCos. The govt is taking a less relaxed approach by relieving the parastatal NBET of the duty of forcing power cost to a regulated value. They only serve an eye in that industry. Same way NCC can command Airtel and MTN to maintain N500MB at Night N50 plan because they know enough to deduce Airtel and MTN can make profit if they sell at that rate. |

Re: Nigeria Electricity Trading Changing To Bilateral Trading By Habu Sadeik by CodeTemplar: 3:00pm On Aug 13 |
Puss360:The koko is that Discos and Gencos will negotiate directly for how they buy and sell power and GenCos will now have freedom to cut of unprofitable Discos alwaya owing them. That means no more r much less interference from govt. It is as good as Subsidy removal. |
