If you wait till war happens before ordering military equipment, you will not get it because manufacturers only produce one or two prototypes. They only do mass production when there is order. And the production may take six, eight or even ten years to deliver

That's why serious countries buy military equipments during peace time because war can break out any moment. Nigeria never expect Boko haram war.
That's what I am saying, Boko Haram is the reason successive govts bothered about equipping the military at all.

No

Obasanjo also failed to equip the military despite being former military head of State. If he had equiped the army well enough, Boko haram war wouldn't have lasted to this time

Bring your evidence

Jonathan set aside 1.2 billion dollars to buy military equipments.

His government was placed under arm embargo by Obama led US government.

Jonathan diverted the 1.2 billion dollars to fund 2015 election and stole the rest. That was why Dazuki, his National Security adviser was jailed by Buhari despite all court orders that he should be released.

If you have contrary opinion share the evidence or the link

Jonathan only bought 4 war ships for the Navy and may be few guns for the army and those are regular small tools for the military.

Up till now, I still don't understand why Jonathan didn't buy military equipments from another country when US place his government on arm embargo.

Unfortunately, thousands of Nigerian soldiers died. Uncountable numbers of civilians gone. Abuja, Kano were under severe attacks and suicide bombings by Boko haram.

It was Buhari that shifted the battle line from cities to the forest

Buhari bought all these hardware yet boko, iswap, bandits and herdsmen are terrorising Nigerians. Then of what use is the equipment.

Buhari, Tinubu and APC gang up was the reason USA placed embargo on Jonathan's government. They were shouting that Jonathan was killing innocent northerners. Same people started shouting that's Jonathan government didn't equipped the military. Idiotic fellows

Where is your evidence?

If US placed arm embargo, another country will sell. But Jonathan could not reason well.

On May 16, 2013
Northern elders on Thursday broke their silence on the slamming of state of emergency in three of their states, describing the action of President Goodluck Jonathan as an indirect declaration of war on the Northern part of Nigeria.

The President’s action, which took the northern elders by surprise, is coming barely three weeks after Jonathan accepted a roadmap from the NEF on how to end the Boko Haram insurgency in parts of the north.

The elders had successfully impressed upon the Presidency to raise the Boko Haram committee to dialogue with the sect with a view to restoring elusive peace to the region. Jonathan, who met with the NEF leadership in Abuja in April, subsequently inaugurated the Turaki-led BH committee with a mandate to broker peace with the sect and compensate their victims within a two-month timeframe.

However, shortly after inaugurating the panel, the sect leadership rejected the amnesty offer, saying that it is the government that should seek amnesty for having killed its Muslim brothers across the country.

But a spokesman for the NEF, Prof Ango Abdullahi, who relayed the position of the group on Thursday, told Vanguard that they were disappointed by the sudden change of tactic by Jonathan on how to resolve the crisis in the north.

“It is very sad for us to see that the President has easily changed direction from dialogue and reconciliation to war in his bid to end the cycle of violence in the north,” Abdullahi said.

Jonathan stirred the hornet’s nest last week by unveiling his memoir, My Transition Hours, he reminded me of a deep scar in my heart that is yet to be healed. Jonathan had recounted how Buhari and his foot soldiers used the tripod of Boko Haram insurgency, abduction of Chibok schoolgirls and fuel subsidy to shove him out of Aso Rock in 2015.

Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako

Governor Nyako accuses Jonathan administration of genocide against Northern Nigeria
bySani Tukur April 19, 2014 Reading Time: 12 mins read
“The Administration has also hired militia from all across especially North Africa who have been deceived into accepting to come because they were made to believe that they would be fighting infidels.”

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has accused the Federal Government of carrying out genocide against the people of Northern Nigeria.
The governor made the accusation in a memo titled “On-Going Full-Fledged Genocide in Northern Nigeria” which he sent to the northern states governors’ forum on April 16.

“While every State Government is doing everything possible using virtually all its resources to stem the tide of near disaster facing all of us especially in the North, it is a well-known fact that the present Federal administration has now become a government of impunity run by an evil-minded leadership for the advancement of corruption that is apparently enjoying the protection of the Federal administration,” Mr. Nyako said.

He said the government is using “mass murderers/cut-throats imbedded in our legitimate and traditional Defence and Security organizations” to carry out the genocide claims.

When there is insecurity there will be no economic activities.

Boko haram would have been a thing of the past if nigerian military especially the airforce had been well equipped
