MONDAY - INTRODUCTION TO SALES

The English word sales was gotten from the late old English word sala from the old norse sala which is of germanic origin. It is believed to mean 'to graps' but order sources have different viewpoint, translating the English word 'to serve' interestingly the purpose of sales engulfed all the listed point views.

selling is an act that have been since the existence MAN, it's just the word that keeps changing. selling is a way of life. There must not necessary be an official setting before it occurs. A man who convinced his girlfriend to marry him is a salesperson. A woman who negotiated bear 2kids instead of the intended 4kids is a sales person. a child who cajoled his mom to make noodles instead of custard is a sales person.

Now what is sales and who is a salesperson ?
sales [/b]simply mean to offer commodity, products or services for profit.

: a sales is a transaction between two or more parties that involves the exchange of tangible or intangible goods, services or other asset for money.
salesperson: a person whose job is to sell a product or service in a given territory.

One of the greatest salesperson recorded in the bible is Jacob, He negotiated his whole destiny with a pot of porridge.

1. people don't like the idea of being sold
2. people buy for emotional, not for rational reason.
3. once sold people need to satisfy their emotional decision with logic.

What is Marketing?

THE MAIN GOAL OF MARKETING IS ALIGNING PRODUCTS WITH THE TARGETED MARKET.

In 1960 a professor in marketing management Jerome E McCarthy introduced the 4 P's of marketing. A core marketing factor that comprises of product, price, place and promotion. It covered analysis, consumer behavior, market research, market segmentation, and planning.
PRODUCT
Creating a marketing campaign starts with an understanding of the product itself. Who needs it and why? What does it do that no competitor's product can do? Perhaps it's a new thing altogether and is so compelling in its design or function that consumers will have to have it when they see it.
PRICE
Price is the amount that consumers will be willing to pay for a product. Marketers must link the price point to the product's real and perceived value, while also considering supply costs, seasonal discounts, competitors' prices, and retail markup.
PLACE
Place is the consideration of where the product should be available—in brick-and-mortar stores and online—and how it will be displayed.
PROMOTION
The goal of promotion is to communicate to consumers that they need this product and that it is priced appropriately. Promotion encompasses advertising, public relations, and the overall media strategy for introducing a product.

FRIDAY- MARKET ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH

The first market I have ever researched, was my mom's restaurant. Ever since I was young I knew I was going to be entrepreneur so I lived my life on research and analysis though was a very rough one but was still worth it.
My mom owned a restaurant where she sells porridge yam and beans a very delicious meal. I have taken so much of that meal that the aurora alone releases my dopamine.

well I always wondered why my mom always had so much customers?, we sell so quickly that from whence the food is done, we will not take rest till the food is finished.

from research and analysis as a teenager I deduced 4 things that made her sell so much.

** positioning- her restaurant was situated in the heart of market
** new inventory (product) - unlike the normal rice, beans and swallow meal. my mom initiated a meal totally different from the rest.
** less competitor- she was apparently in the blues market
** price- it was so affordable that it starts from as low as #100 back then.

Obviously my mom never made this analysis before starting the business, she just rented a shop, bought equipment made some spiritual rituals and started. fortunately she was in alignment with the market .

Now this is a coincidence and doesnt happen more often.
