Here we go again! This is reminiscent of the way SLS went about donating CBN money to (mainly Northern) universities. I will say what I said then: No statutory body has a CSR remit: you have no power to donate anything especially money. ALL monies ought to go to the Federation Account and can only be disbursed upon appropriation!

The recklessness in this country is mind blowing. No one seem to be in charge as every agency of government operates like a kingdom. This is how bold corruption has become.

As noble as it seems, does the constitution empower EFCC to do as they wish with recovered loots. There are a lot of things that government and its agencies do that will just leave you scratching your head. The Nigerian constitution is just there to protect the big and mighty and keep the little man in check

Your question/observation is valid . Do they have jurisdiction or the power to disburse recovered money from the proceed of crime to funds government programmes as they deem fit.. does extant laws grant them that power? 50 billion is no small money!

Assuming they recovered billions from Yahaya bello, are they not suppose to return the money to the state coffers?

Good one, but my worry is that the loan will end up not being paid back, at 95% may not pay back because it will be like empower money to them grin. Where's the job in Nigeria for them after school to use and payback the loan?

If only you can exercise your common sense, so you want the money recovered by the EFCC to revert to the looters of the money? Is it not better to be used for targeted infrastructure and public use such as the student loan program? At least, we can say the general population benefited from the recovery of looted funds. However, the use of the fund should be monitored and accounted for on a quarterly basis.

The money was never efcc money to give in the first place, the madness that exist in Nigeria is appalling, efcc does not have any right whatsoever to give money that isn't theirs, even the CBN have no right to give money out, Nigeria is a useless country.

In your mind now you think you are using your common sense. Whatever money they are to spend must be appropriate for, they don't have the right to spend or donate any money not appropriate for. It's not their father's money to dispose as they wish.

Help me ask these people abeg! It almost seems these politricktians no longer consider the people of Nigeria a part of the Governmental equation at this point.

Hope it's not scam

If one has a case in court with EFCC, and eventually wins in the future (considering how long court cases can last), EFCC will claim the money was donated in this scheme.

If they (EFCC) want to be honest, let them list the people whose money are used for this donation.
50 billion is not small money to just write off as donation

Applaud the idea and motivation first. Then go ahead and raise your concerns about the process. And then give your recommendation if you have one.

That's the least a well meaning Nigerian should do.

I do not support =N=20,000.00 payment to undergraduates in tertiaries institution but Nigeria Government can make tertiary education free (including all departmental fees and other payments) while parents or guardians should bears other burden like accommodation, books and foodstuff.

EFCC is an organ of Nigeria, it doesn't have the autonomy to keep money recovered from fraudsters, talk less of owning and donating it.

And to even think a govt agency can 'dash' huge sum like this to another govt agency that has its budget approved by the national assembly is worrisome..

This shows that tinubu's appointees are just doing as they like with little or no oversight from him been the president
