How Accommodating Is The South West Really? (exposing The Truth) by LocalStandard1(m): 3:43pm On Aug 15 |
Let me start with a Bible verse that says "...to whom much is given much is expected". Lagos State was the Nigerian capital for almost eighty years ( 77yrs). Lagos State even today is the economic capital of Nigeria as only the state is responsible for well over 90% of all the imports and exports of the more than two hundred million people. Also the biggest and most busiest airport in Nigeria, transporting people and things on a daily, and it has been so for well over a century. Now consider this, people are naturally drawn to the center, artificially or naturally as with the case of ports, waterways, roads, mining sites, political capitals and centers of administrations. Just like Kaduna State is to the North today, and what Kano State was to the North centuries ago and Port Harcourt is to Nigeria as the oil companies' center. Just like what Abuja, the FCT, is to Nigeria today. But what really has Nigeria given or done to the South East, what is the major and special contributions of the federal government to the South East to make it a National attraction to the country's citizens, thereby making the region a center of anything? Like say Kaduna being the military and educational institutions center of the country thanks to the federal government? Now back to the assertion of the South West being "accommodating". That is a false popular belief, devoid of any truth historically or currently, as we see in the past few years. The South West has always been the center of tribal and ethnic strife and xenophobia, popular and targeted at the Northerners first. The South West today is the center of tribalism and ethnic strife, targeted at the South Easterners. It has been even more prominent since the Obasanjo regime (even though a Yoruba too), but especially under the Goodluck administration, but as we've seen it is in its full form since the Buhari/Tinubu collaboration in National power struggle (the most vicious and incompetent duo). The South West is like that person given a large gold nugget but also left with the responsible to carry the weight. If you don't want it break the nugget into pieces and share it round. Diversify and spread round those cargo sea ports in Lagos. If you want to know if and how the South East can also be accommodating diversify and spread the center of affairs to them, you make the South East also a hub of national administration just like Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Abuja and co. The South West is not more 'accommodating', it only has the first major benefit of being the center of Nigerian National commerce and administration. If you don't want the responsibility reject the benefits! Start by relocating the Central Bank and finance minitry to the South East, setting up a fully operational sea port for them their. 2 Likes

I am not a So-called Igbo, not even from the South. But I learned how to be fair after being a victim of absolute unfairness in The Northern State of Kaduna. It is a matter of perspective and fairness, and only few have these human gifts. Some learn, adopt and incorporate it. I am one. 1 Like |

The monthly allocation since 1999 till this moment is enough for any goal oriented governor to drive his state to a better standard more than Lagos. If we continue to say Lagos was former Nigeria capital, do you also considered the number of the people the government of the Lagos state is taking care of ? What happened to a state like Bayelsa, with so little population, receiving a very huge allocation, 13% derivation and other oil benefit yet nothing to show for it. 8 Likes |

madridguy: I addressed your point of view. Lagos is still very much the commercial capital of Nigeria, those sea ports are the heart beat of the nation. But good one you're more polite and reasonable today than normal. |

In all of these, it is the North that I pity the most. This is where the most has been given to but the least utilized it is. The Northern Nigeria has cursed itself and it is paying for it the most. If you want to see poverty, lack, hopelessness and abject penury then arrive in places here. But they never realize this fact, yet. |

The issue of accommodating is very funny to me You people agreed to a constitution that we all can live and work anywhere, own property anywhere... I see opportunity in a your region, invest my money, skills ,network and time ... I offer you good deal best you can get you pay me I offer to buy your land you keep it above market rate I buy the land nevertheless Then you turn around to say you accommodated me? Is that not madness? How can you accommodate someone you don't have power to chase away in the first place? If you don't want to "accommodate " igbos again what exactly can you do? If you want your land back make an offer the igbo man can't say no to just like he did to you This is just a lazy man talk 1 Like |

Bros, I'm not here to argue anything with you because if facts is provided you will still argue. The same Ogun state you are trying to rubbish still has the highest of industries in Nigeria. Many people from your region still rush down to Ogun state. mrvitalis: 7 Likes |
