I later reached out to VFS and requested a refund politely and they said they cannot issue a refund as I’ve used the SMS services already

VFS job is similar to a courier company that facilitates communication between the applicant and the embassy; they do not determine visa processing or issuance. If there is a delay in visa issuance, it is due to the embassy, not VFS. You can submit a webform to the embassy. Your previous complaint do not anger anybody to cause delay to ur passport , as you are dealing with a global entity, not a one-man business!

You're suppose to submit both passport, the old you applied with and the new one. You made a serious mistake. I hope you notify them first about the new passport thing and before submitting the one you submitted, so that you don't cause yourself another issue.

Your old passport was still valid for 3 years then u need explain ircc what happen as to why you now have a new pasaport when ur old passport was still valid for 3 years..some people escape it while some did not as ircc ask for explanation !

Send a webform and upload copies of passports. You can as well send email to their Lagos and Abuja offices.

You can tell them you obtained a new passport to enjoy the benefits of the 10-year long duration visa.

You can only renew your Nigerian passport officially even if it's still valid for three more years under certain conditions which foreign embassy are aware too . Here are some common reasons why you might renew your passport early:

1) Passport Pages Are Running Out: If you're running low on blank pages in your passport, especially if you travel frequently, you might want to renew your passport before it expires.

2) Change of Name or Information: If there's a change in your name due to marriage, divorce, or other legal reasons, you may need to renew your passport to reflect the updated information.

3) Passport Damaged or Lost: If your passport is damaged or lost, you'll need to apply for a replacement, which is effectively a renewal.

Not just validity of the passport but the year of biometric validity left, it takes the lesser of the two.

For instance if your passport has ten years validity but 4 years biometric validity you will get only 4 years stamp visa.

Like you said, the VO sometimes restric it to the nos of year your spouse you re reuniting with has to study, yes VP can influence the decisions.

The CBSA at PoE can only reduce the limit you can stay per time from 6 months to what he deems appropriate via stamp.

Start ur work history from august 2014 and leave no gap while filling till date

Na real wa. Seems they have different case base for there different decisions

Are you expecting a decision? Mine is family visit.

This is not a good time to do tourist or conference oh except you have credible travel history.

Send a web form and an email to the Lagos or Abuja embassy. Attach both passports' biodata pages and explain what you did. The reason why your passport hasn’t been returned has just been stated in previous responses.

It is common knowledge that ur passport can't be renewed with more than 6mnth validity, except for d following reasons that someone on d platform has stated for u.
Ur only shot nw, so u will get ur visa n passport bck is write to them letting them knw d same reason u gave to immigration that qualified u for renewal.
Plz what ever u do don't give d reason for ur renewal is to enjoy 10yrs validity of visa except is d official reason immigration have registered on their system for ur renewal.
Ur case is 50/50

Chai, ppr wey ppl dey find dis one get am go complicate issues.

If he had gotten the stamp on the 3 years passport, even if it expires so far you had a past Canada visa it will still be easy for you to reapply and get.

Na longer throat do the guy oh. Because you have leg in immigration you did it successfully. Now IRCC don show, you need to continue that long leg. Reason I advise people normalize doing things the right way so even if you japaa it is easy for you to live a normal life without the need to always influence process or system.
