I actually read a credible international report which stated that the mere existence of Dangote refinery positions Nigeria as an INDUSTRIALISED COUNTRY TODAY.

Because it makes Nigeria the biggest manufacturer and exporter of refined petroleum products and petrochemicals in Africa.

I will see if I can find the report.

Industrialised, partly right... Developed, still far from it. Either ways, we're making progress but it needs to be faster... much faster...

This country will shake the world.

In fact we're already shaking the world.

But more to come.

See how Dangote Refinery is making the whole world tremble, especially Europe.

What will they say when we now complete our 35 billion dollar gas pipeline that is heading straight to Europe as we speak?

That will end Russia's status as the monopoly supplier to Europe, and triple our annual income.

We better go and start adding nuclear capability to our military. undecided

Because I don't think Putin is finding all these moves by Nigeria funny at all.

I'm sure he's sitting somewhere laughing and saying ''see small nyash dey shake''.

But we go show am say Naija no dey carry last. angry

Triple our annual income only for them to steal more than half of it. We won't feel the effect bro.

The world is waiting for Nigeria.... I can imagine how glorious this country would be when fully industrialized....

Imagine a Nigeria with several export auto makers, mass wear production, booming tourism industry and a solid manufacturing and agro sector... nobody would be able to stand this great nation.

May God help the right people get to the right offices in politics and governance...

Not in your life time, because the present leaders are criminals. They don't care about technology and they don't care about your country. Know this and have peace mind.

Good. Because the nation will not terminate hundreds of crude contracts to please Dangote

Two, the nation is a bigger entity than Dangote and he can't dictate the pace and policy direction of the country. He has been doing it forever. This is where it stops

Three, refineries all over the world buy crude from so many sources. Dangote is free to go to Libya, Algeria, Malta, Iran to source his crude but the nation will no longer be subservient to him

He is already buying from other sources. Also y'all shouldn't expect him to sell fuel cheaper to you......QED

Your statement lacks substance. Dangote refinery is a private project not a national one. He should do like other business men and seek their raw materials elsewhere

Most people are just sentimental and naive. They really don't get your point. South Korea hosts one of the largest refineries in the world and they source theor crude all over the world, Korea has no proven reserves of crude and the same with Singapore they have one of the largest refineries in the world and they have no crude. Again most people fail to realise that refineries of the scale of dangote in size are not designed to refine one particular grade of crude. Nigerian crude is known as sweet crude as it is sulfur free in content, but has low paraffin content, and as a result is suitable for production of PMS, AGO and Kerosene/Aviation fuel, but produces a low output for petrochemicals. It is Heavier crude blends like US Brent, North Sea, Arabian and Venezuelan crude that are suitable for petrochemical production.
That being said I support your view that Dangote should in addition to sourcing for Nigerian crude, he can source crude anywhere as well, he should hold the country hostage because of that.

Definitely we are not expecting that, bit that is where Nigerian government if they care about the people will come in. This is where the subsidy will make sense and even be economical for the government.

Dangote wants the entire petroleum industry in his back pocket the same way he pocketed CBN and has used his quota system brothers to empty the nation of its foreign exchange. Nigerians are like you said quitessentially simply naive and sentimental

what is the rationale behind your thoughts? If it is because you have a personal beef with dangote, then I can understand. But I will like you to factor in the benefits Nigerians would get from dangote taking his stock from Nigeria, it means cheaper crude which results to cheaper fuel and that is what we need right now in Nigeria. Cheaper energy or let's say less expensive energy material will drop down inflation and also reduce the pressure on FX. I think what is better for all of us is more than what is good for your selfish interest, EGO.

Abdul as the name implies Muslim. The erosion of national resources to fund Islamic agenda in a form of financial jihadism is what you guys are really pursuing. Nigeria is not a property of Islam and Allah is the devil on disguise. Now, get lost

you see why I said no one should expect cheap fuel from Dangote refinery? he will definitely buy his crude at international price and sell to Nigerians, or whoever wants to buy at whatever makes profit. Dangote crude oil refineries is not a charity.

i pity reading the posts of those who had hopes of cheap fuel when the refinery is completed and running. it is that time you will see thread upon thread and content from financial analysts and economic juggernauts telling you why you must buy fuel at 3 times the market cost cheesy

Las las, you will hardly see changes in the standard of living of the masses in Nigeria. The naira to dollar conversion will also have no significant improvement because corruption is still there.

Dangote should source his feedstock anywhere he so pleases and leave the country alone. Also, the refinery wasn't constructed to consume the nations crude. It was constructed because Dangote wanted to explore the industry. Nigeria must not be made an estate of Dangote

And u think u won't be the one to pay for the cost of importing it's crude? Nigeria will continue to refine its crude outside and bring it back then we pay for the cost of refining n transport

He has met his match in Bobo Chicago. Dangote relied on military leaders like IBB,Abacha, OBJ and Buhari for far too long.
And now facing the Lagos landlord who Bode George claimed suffers from an incurable mental illness Affluenza.

Bode George: a sufferer of Affluenza “can never stop the craving for unnecessary endless accumulation of wealth. He does not know what is enough. He glorifies wealth in place of the Almighty God. This is the dreadful disease Tinubu is suffering from.”
“With all these crazy and bewildering acquisitions , it is obvious that this Iragbiji upstart suffers from a disease called AFFLUENZA .”

Nigeria Is Turning Into an Oil Market Juggernaut

The massive Dangote refinery establishes the African nation as a major influencer — and a potential disruptor for Europe.

Bloomberg News

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2024-08-15/nigeria-s-dangote-refinery-is-fueling-an-oil-juggernaut-to-challenge-europe

But has the NNPC considered getting the refineries working, refining for local consumption and also exporting to other countries as a means of earning foreign exchange, especially other African countries around us, really don't know why our leaders only think of just stealing and not seeing how they could better the lives of its citizens

Wat dangote is doing now is wat nigeria should have done 4o to 50yrs ago we should have been a G5 Nation by now..with excess cash a high standard of living and virtually eliminating poverty.. some some men decided to steal our common resources and stash in Switzerland Bank acct some men decided to steal...if u look at it now u realise those men were fools what's one person gain compared to what hundreds of million of Nigerian will gain look at Kuwait with the strongest currency in the world. This is pure witchcraft.

You are nothing but an economic illiterate. Nigerians had been lamenting lack of just one working refinery over many decades, we saw it as a shame of the nation. Now we have one, not just one but one of the largest ones in the world! Suddenly, una don start your usual pull him down syndrome. May be we even deserve where we found ourselves as Nigerians today, so sad.

To tackle inflation and reduce fuel prices effectively, it's crucial for NNPC to provide Dangote with the necessary crude oil and regulate the selling price to marketers. This should be a top priority for any responsible nation.
