LOW VOTER TURNOUT MARS BAUCHI LG POLL

Low voter turnout has characterised the ongoing local government election in Bauchi State.

Voting commenced in most polling centres at about 11:00 am, due to the late arrival of election officials and materials.

Voting commenced late at Junior Secondary School Gwallameji; Kofar Sarkin-Gwalameji, Sa’adu Zungur Comprehensive Secondary School, and GSS Baba-Sidi polling units amid voter apathy.

The voters were queueing orderly and peacefully as election officials and materials arrived the venue, to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise in most centres visited.

There was adequate deployment of security personnel at the centres while most of the residents were going about their normal businesses.

A group of election monitors expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise in the areas visited.

Mr Mamman Eri, the Lead Observer, who is also the Chairman, Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission, commended the voters, polling clerks and security agents for the smooth conduct of the exercise.

Eri, who is also the Chairman, Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), led other States’ Electoral Commissioners in motoring the exercise.

“We have gone round some polling units, the election was peaceful, people conduct themselves and the agents of political parties present at the polling units is commendable,” Eri said

This happen to be the very first in the series of LG-Polls which happened after the Supreme-Court Judgement..

To an extent that Chairmen of the SIECs of other States came to observe the LG-Elections..

Very Very Low voter turnout..
But when the results would be out,, we are expecting the value of the votes to be over-bloated in order to favour the ruling party in the state..

I so love the fact that you all don't bother to go out to vote and then claim the winner rigged the election.

If I wanted to win an election, I too would promote this distrust you all have in elections, while paying my supporters to go out to vote.

As for me, I want an election where,, even if it is only 20-people that came out and casted their votes, let it be that the results showed that only those twenty people casted their votes.. And not “MORE THAN TWENTY”..

If there are voided or rejected votes,, let it reflect very well..
But let everything not be MORE THAN THOSE TWENTY PEOPLE who actually voted in real-life..

That will be the only time we will move forward with our elections,, and VOTER-APATHY will just die a natural death on its own.

According to the feelers I got,, there were no proper awareness.

A lot of people in Bauchi didn't even know that there is an election going on today,, not to even know that the election is a very important election for that matter.

Democracy is not just voting, but also includes the vigilance that ensures votes count.

We conduct elections in our own communities, and should therefore ensure the number who go in equals those who come out.

Voter apathy is to your detriment. It works for "them" and not for you.

This is the complications of the electoral criminality INEC covertly and overtly imposed on this nation by it abysmal conduct of the 2023 elections. This has been compounded by the ineptitude and incompetency of governance Nigeria has witnessed across boards ever since.

The National Orientation Agency has a lot to do in order to convince the people to go for any election/voting...they have lost hope in Government
