The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has explained that the N35,000 wage award in the state should not be taken as part of or in lieu of the N70,000 new minimum wage recently passed into law. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2024/08/wage-award-not-part-of-n70000-minimum-wage-nlc-lagos/amp/ 5 Likes 1 Share

Very apt. Wage award and minimum wage are never and can never be the same. Sanwo-Olu should stop hiding behind a finger and set up a committee immediately for implementation of the 70k minimum wage. 22 Likes 3 Shares |

dimgbajwe:Obinna, read before typing. Before the fed govt approved the 70k minimum wage, no civil servant in lagos payroll got less than 70k from the govt every month. I'm 100% sure you don't have the weakest idea behind the outburst of NLC. Please prove me wrong. While at that, you may tell us how much Abia state of "non-lying" Elu P has been paying as minimum wage before and after the fed govt approval of 70k. 43 Likes 3 Shares |

Richtaiwo: This erroneous assertion is what the NLC is trying to make very clear. Wage award is not minimum wage. Get that very clear. Minimum wage is minimum wage. If the Lagos state government has been giving their workers some stipends in the form of wage awards just to augment, then it is commended but it is different from minimum wage. With the new minimum wage signed into law, the Lagos state government and other state governments, including the Abia state government, are expected to constitute a minimum wage committee to draw up a wage structure starting from the approved #70,000 to reflect various cadres and salary grade levels of all categories of workers. Taiwo, Stop this nonsense APC and LP banter. Elections are long over, and when the election is over, governance begins. Besides, amongst the class of 2023 governors, Alex Otti of Abia State is obviously the best. He has undertaken infrastructural projects and other projects capable of improving the lives of the people in such a short time more than any other state governor in Nigeria currently. 39 Likes 8 Shares |

Bobloco:On the texts in bold, go to the second comment on this thread, I have already said it. For APC and LP banter, check the last 3 words of the member I quoted. Lastly, care to explain how Allex Otti is obviously the best? 17 Likes 1 Share |

Bobloco: Otti who has owed 3 months salary out of the 12 months he's been in office is the one you are calling the best Governor. Why are you people so dishonest like this? The problem with you guys is that you have never been fortunate to experience good governance in your entire lives. So, an ordinary Julius Berger signboard, 2 gutters and 18k salary is enough to impress you. 51 Likes 1 Share |

razzydoo:Ok. my mistake! It was originally meant to expire when the old minimum wage did in May 2024, which was also when a new minimum wage was supposed to have kicked in. I just read that in June, the minister of labor announced it was to continue after the initial 6 months indicated until a new minimum wage is in place. https://www.channelstv.com/2024/06/03/n35000-wage-award-to-continue-until-minimum-wage-is-settled-labour-minister/ 1 Like
