All Nigerian politicians are the same. They can't do people any favour if there's nothing they will benefit from it.
The new minimum wage is no longer in the lips of our dear governor. Remember, he said that he will key in IMMEDIATELY the federal government concludes with the negotiations.
Now what's happening? I guess the FG is still discussing about the new minimum wage with labour unions. Right?
Hmmmm! No politician from Nigeria is a saint. All are selfish and self centered.

Gov. Fubara and Wike!d are more of twin brothers. If not for the numerous battle he faced, he would have act worse than Wike!d. The 100k he gave to us as December bonus was to cover up for the blunda he made at that Abuja 8 point peace pack. I'm afraid he will not do us much good.

Don't judge easily, the governor does not need to come out and announce that he is paying min wage this month.
Just know that Rivers State is paying min wage this month.Got the info from a reliable source at ministry of finance that the calculation is already done.So let's wait and see before you conclude

I also believe that it will be paid this month. During the May Day speech of the governor. He said he would implement as soon as d MW is sign into law and template is out. I think he will keep to his words because that is where integrity starts.

Hmmmm, a Nigerian politician, Bread and Buttered in Nigeria will pay the new minimum wage without broadcasting it all over the media houses? Well, let me watch and see how possible that can be. Month ending is almost around the corner.

what you all fail to realize is that fubara is not a noisemaker like the regular kind of Nigerian politician . He does not need to make noise before paying the new minimum wage this month . So please relax

It's too early to judge. A good dancer is known by the way he throws his step. From what he has done so far, I believe he ll put smile on the faces of civil servants. He hasn't done anything wrong to be condemned .The journey is still young.

It was reported in the National Dailies that 27 states are yet to set up a minimum wage committee. Rivers State was not in the list. There's every possibillity that Fubara will pay us the new wage this month. So let's keep our fingers crossed

Ok. However, the paper I read, Rivers State was neither among the states that haven't set up minimum wage committee nor those that have set up the committe. As you can see below.

PUNCH Lite
27 states, FCT yet to set up minimum wage panels

Kindly share this story:

Twenty-seven states and the Federal Capital Territory have yet to set up committees to implement the recently approved N70,000 minimum wage.

The states are Plateau, Kebbi, Sokoto, Nasarawa, Bayelsa, Delta, Osun, Ekiti, Zamfara, Benue, Enugu, Taraba, Gombe, Kogi, Enugu, Adamawa, Niger, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Katsina, Kaduna, Cross River and Yobe.

However, seven other states — Kano, Kwara, Ogun, Borno, Jigawa, Ondo, and Abia — have set up implementation committees. Only Lagos and Edo claimed to have started paying the minimum wage.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu signed the new minimum wage into law on July 29, 2024, after meeting with leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria.

In this report, I noticed Enugu was listed twice which was the same as the other papers I read - no doubt, a clerical error. Could it be Rivers was erroneously replaced by Enugu? Notwithstanding, let's not be too uptight about it. God is in control. Fubara will create a record.

The Nation noted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has been proactive in addressing wage-related concerns, particularly in light of the rising cost of living and economic challenges facing workers.

Following a crucial meeting with NLC and TUC leaderships on July 15, President Tinubu approved the increase in the national minimum wage.

This decision was later codified through the passage of a new minimum wage bill by the National Assembly, which the President signed . The new legislation also mandates a review of the national minimum wage every three years, ensuring that wage adjustments keep pace with inflation and economic realities.

Please my honorable colleagues, how much supposed to be our salary range if given 20 percent instead of the whole 133.333 percent based on consequential adjustment as it was in the previous minimum wage of 30k.
Those that are good in mathematics should help us calculate it, please.

How come it is 20%? Were we actually paid minimum wage in the previous administration?

For those that were receiving x as take home salary.it was like this last time.(0.2 ×) +x=minimum wage take home salary. for example.for those receiving 61000... 20/100=0.2...then 0.2 times 61000=12200;... therefore, 61000+12200= 73200
NOTE: it was 18k minimum wage before it was pushed to 30k minimum wage. The difference between 18k n 30k is just 12k which represents the amount added
They shouldn't use this format of computation.its poor and it ll push several civil servants into poverty

Please can you redo the calculations using the current 70k minimum wage but at 20percent level being the consequential adjustment for the 70k. Thank you.

For this kind harsh economy.hmmm
They can never use 20% in computing 70k minimum wage.20% fall behind the benchmark of 70k minimum wage. If they do, about 24k to 25k ll be added for those receiving 124k
If you talk of 40% and above I would believe
Meanwhile . This is not the conventional way of computing minimum wage. previous administration used that system for unknown reason
