Please can someone help me get insight on the starlink subscription.. if I want to use it in a hotel or office.. will it still be the 38k sub.. plenty people will be using it, as such 1 terabyte wouldn't be enough.
Max of 120 users if you're not bypassed. If you're bypassed, you can use it in ap mode and get 120 users + max number of users your third party supports.
I'm bypassed and 400 users max.

That statement the OP made is incorrect. If you are on the residential plan, which I believe the OP is, you simply need to change the service address to your new location. You don't have to resubscribe simply because you moved to a new location. Though, you may not be able to change your service address especially in Lagos, Abuja and Kano as most part of the aformentioned states have reached capacity.

With the kind of speed OP is getting with Starlink, I am 100% sure he is not resident in Lagos, Abuja or Kano, because speed in the aforementioned states have tanked as Starlink has become too saturated in those states.

Starlink, unlike MTN and co, is a completely wireless network. Have you ever heard where a radio service shut down because too many people are listening? No. Because the MO of Starlink is almost similar to that of radio stations.

Like Radio stations, the connectivity is affected by the following factors:

1) weather.
2) Terrain of OP's environments and other obstacles.
3) interference from other EM waves.
4) Thickness of OP's walls.
5) Positioning of the satellite dish.
6) distance from the nearest satellite to Op's location.
7) Starlink reduces the speed for people in OP's continent.
cool The Wi-FI adaptors installed in OP's devices.
9) The build of the device itself.
10) CPU throttling when the device overheats.

So, everybody owning a Starlink wouldn't reduce the speed. What's causing the slowdown could be either, or a combination of the factors mentioned above.

MTN, Airtel, etc, on the other hand, can have their network impoverished by overload.

I will ask you a simple question and I want a straight forward answer. Are you using Starlink?

I asked you that question because some of us have been using Starlink since February 2023. So, there's virtually nothing we don't know about it.

Visit this thread, which is just one of the Starlink threads on Nairaland. Read through the thread, you might get to understand somethings about Starlink.

I'm not going to enter an argument with you because you are obviously ignorant as to how Starlink works.

I can't buy it until am earning serious money in dollars...

If you are earning in dollars or competing with digital companies overseas, it is a good investment because I am sure after you use it, you can still sell it as second hand for that exact 400k (due to how the naira is losing value). This is after 5 to 10 years of use, that's naira.
But you can buy a phone for more than that amount?

Nice one. But wait o, what single file are you Downloading that is 100Gb? Just curious, never come across such before

Pastorjohn2:
Hello everyone, I made a post on my review on the airtel 5G unlimited router. Let's just say the speed nearly drove me mad, There were times I couldn't use the router unless at night time because it was just too slow.
It's truly unlimited but the speed is a joke.
So last month I purchased starlink and it cost me about 440k on jumia with 38k monthly subscription fee and I must say, The speed is incredible!
I experience an average of 200-300mbps and even hit up to 458mbps as compared to airtels 20mbps.
I can download a 75gb file in 1 hour but I used 3 days to download a 100gb file with airtel router.

The only major disadvantage is, If you don't have constant power then you have to use your gen constantly to power it and it's not portable at all. You'd have to completely unwire it to take it to another location and the data plans are very specific to your current location.

So if I go from Lagos to Abuja, I can't use it in Abuja as I'd have to resub again for Abuja location.
If you can afford it, I highly recommend it! My videos almost never buffer even at the highest possible quality.

Yes, starlink is truly unlimited. I do nearly 1TB every month as well, and you can connect to up to 128 devices at a time without the speed being throttled down

I don't think the pipe hole is necessary sha but it could help with getting better signals.
Nothing much came in the box, Just the router, dish and the cable with a graphical installation manual.

Most likely a location issue. I use the airtel unlimited 20 plan with an ODU and I get a seamless experience. Streaming, browsing and downloads in a breeze. I guess user experiences differ. Everyone should use what works for them. The most important consideration is that one gets value for money well spent.

That's the truth. if you are located in an area with good network coverage. then the cost of the subscription is worth it.

All the 5g network in Nigeria na pure scam. How can you call a network 5g, and still be struggling at 60mbps?

A real 5g network should average 1gbps. Starlink dropping 400mbps dey try. But I still feel that when they create their base in Lagos, Ogun and PH, the speed will improve and also fix the location based issues.

Better 38k @ 400mbps than 50k @ 60mbps by Airtel.
Yes, you are right. airtel has to some extent provided unlimited plans at rather reasonable speed. Other network providers should also emulate Airtel's quest to provide unlimited plans.
