Yes oh. If Tinubu can make $1=2000 naira, I'll support him for life.😍

Best regime so far. I didn't vote for Tinubu, and despite general complaints, his administration's policies so far have favored me heavily.

Dollar rate is a show of what our trade balance is

It's not like Tinubu is just going to a wheel to turn a number and choose the exchange rate

You want better exchange rate? Then we need produce and not fake numbers from govt which doesn't represent reality

Lol, we'd begin judging him from when he took oath for his first term. It's not like he has some magic wand he wants to swish at the end of his tenure to put everything in place.

For instance if he met USD at 750/$, it's expected that by the time he's balanced our trade by 50%, dollar should be at least #400/$, once he achieves that, we can then renew for another 4 years for them to take it back to the #120/$ before the entered... We're not judging him by much, let them just take us back to 2015 economic standards.

He did not become President in 2015, he is poised to take us to the glory days where we wont be dependent on fuel subsidy and Dollar subsidy

Young japarians should take advantage of this.

I literally just returned in the last hour from holidaying at my cousins house on the South Coast who took this Japa route in 2012 after Nigerian army turned him down for officer corps. He is an MSc holder and applied directly from Naija.

Today he is a soldier in logistics division, married to a British doctor, two kids, 5 bedroom house with house in Naija for his mum and he has built two 2 bedroom flats in the compound for his brothers. Soft life for him. Most days he will close work at 12pm or 3pm and use the evening to do truck driving or crane work earning extra thousand pounds plus per month. He used that extra work to pay for his brothers PHD over here. As part of logisitics corp, you get all those certificates for truck driving, forklift and crane and they use it to earn extra money at Southampton port. Enough of his battalion are Naija, Ghana and Gambian boys and they hustle well daily, I meet most of them. One Ghana boy has used this to buy plenty properties in Ghana as well as owning a car lot.

Took a souvenir of bullet he kept on his outside fridge where he keeps Naija foodstuff on this last trip. Also attached are the army quarters where his colleagues are living well. Don't be like Okpa, shouting about common $2k Putin is offering Nigerians to go and die in Ukraine, if you fancy soldier life, Japa well

APC na very useless party. I talk am with my full chest! They must think everyone is as dull as their supporters who swallow their useless propaganda.

They are basically playing with Semantics ; "shortfall", "under-recovery","subsidy" etc.

The long and short is PMS is sold at almost half the price it was imported into the country. The people are paying for half the landing cost while the government is paying the other half. How is that not subsidy?

They claimed briefcase companies and importers are the reason why subsidy payment figures are bloated. Now that they claim they no longer pay subsidy, yet the money they pay to keep pump price low is now more than what they pay when the briefcase companies were involved.

This current government is full of incompetent people who think propaganda can translate to good governance 🤦‍♂️

Tinubu is the substantive minister of petroleum yet, he jets out of the country on a supposed “workstay “ in the midst of a biting fuel scarcity in the country……

But …. But…But….. He’s the most prepared among the 2023 presidential candidates. Smh

Lmaooo it's because the word "subsidy" is not captured in the budget.
So the question is where is the money government is using to pay this "shortfall" coming from😁

Obviously the shortfall is coming from NNPC now.

The thing is ; whatever NNPC is supposed to remit to FG will be reduced after sorting the "shortfall". Later FG will tell us there is variance in their projected income in the budget and they will present a supplementary budget to the rubber stamp House of Assembly who will approve it.

When that time comes and u start asking questions, they will send their twitter warriors after u to start gaslighting u up and down for asking questions.

More numbers are coming out and it turns out we've paid as high as 500B (August 2022) in a month prior to 2023.
It appears The Cable cherrypicked the perfect duration for shock value. It worked.

800B ($0.5B) is wild though.
FY 2022 subsidy was $10B.
At the rate we're going, we might end up paying the same or more subsidy in $ terms without the relatively stable supply during Buhari's administration.

It'd be something to pay more subsidy than GEJ and have worse scarcity than Buhari.

-Lord

So how come we are buying fuel for more than 200 while still paying almost the same amount for subsidy?

Because I sure as hell know the fuel consumption of Nigerians has reduced drastically.
The amount of cars on the road has reduced (you can easily notice during rush hours).
But till now FG has refused to tell Nigerians the amount of fuel we buy daily to help us know how much fuel is being subsidised.

It's very easy to understand

PMS is an imported commodity and like all other commodities, it is affected by exchange rate

Assuming the true cost of PMS was N500 then and you were paying N200 per litre, then Govt was subsidising N300 in every litre

Official Naira rate has tripled so the same PMS true cost is now N500x3 = N1,500. If you are paying N700 now. Then Govt is now subsiding N800 inside
