IDF says the bodies of the six Israeli hostages were retrieved from a tunnel in Khan Yunis
The IDF retrieved the bodies of six Israeli hostages killed in captivity in Gaza overnight into Tuesday. The bodies were found in the Khan Yunis area by a joint operation involving various army and Shin Bet forces, based on precise intelligence.

Defense officials estimate that some were killed in the tunnel where their bodies were found, and that their captors may have fled following Israeli strikes, leaving the bodies behind.

Kibbutz Nir Oz announced that the body of Chaim Peri was also recovered from the Gaza Strip overnight. “Chaim Peri, who was abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz during the events of October 7 and was left to die in Hamas captivity, was returned to the kibbutz today after more than ten months in captivity in Gaza,” the kibbutz said in a statement.

Peri was 80 years old, a father of five and a grandfather of 13. The kibbutz's statement described him as “an entrepreneur, humanist, peace activist, and founder of the White House Gallery. On the day of the massacre at the kibbutz, Haim managed to save his wife, Osnat, before he was abducted.”

“He survived under inhumane conditions in Hamas tunnels for months until he was brutally murdered in captivity. The return of Haim's body serves as a painful reminder that our struggle to free all our loved ones and return to normalcy is far from over, and it is of utmost importance because time is not on the side of the hostages! We will continue to do everything in our power until all our loved ones are back home. The living for recovery, and the murdered for burial,” the statement concluded.
