He abandoned a 19 year old aircraft to buy a 15 year old aircraft as replacement.

Truly he's out to break records.
Probably 19 year old from when it was purchased, and not when it was manufactured.

It's either someone was shiponing money for those Jet maintenance or those doing the maintenance were doing rubbish.

That plane don get fault twice when the President traveled oversea within 6 month and once with the VP that they had to charter a private plane back to the country.

I remember a certain state visit that Tinubu did to an African country that he went in his own personal PJ because the Presidential jet was faulty.

Aside this, under Abacha security was top notch although he has his own issues too.

it is easy to run 'top notch' security when you are a dictatorship.

we all saw how quickly ken saro wiwa was dispatched - can you imagine if the same had been done to nnamdi kanu?

actually we have always had issues with plane maintenance in nigeria. i read a story to the effect that it is cheaper to buy a used jet that has been recently audited and ground it when the next audit date is due. because plane maintenance is not cheap. you see how our NAF regularly bungles routine aircraft maintenance.

i suspect that may also be part of the issues. though the optics of buying a plane at this time leave a lot to be desired.

The funny thing is aviation experts actually confirmed that the maintenance of this newly acquired airbus is more complicated than Boeing.

So if they are unable to maintain the Boeing well, what’s the assurance they can maintain the newly acquired airbus that is more complex ?

actually, i missed that. that may be the issue. boeing has been in the news cycle for the last 6 months for maintenance disasters. though they are primarily tied to their boeing max - the larger issue is a complete failure of safety culture. basically hyper/late stage capitalism.

the dark side of bean counters like ibime is if you put them in charge, they will throw away quality for quarterly reports tongue

This new jet is just about Tinubu living like a king and nothing more .

I’m very sure if they put the old one for sale , some other entity/country/company will buy it and will be put to use . It’s not like whoever buys it will go and scrap it.

All those long paragraphs Bayo Onanuga is saying is just justify their wasteful spending in this austere period

I know .

The one they claimed is faulty , if they sell it what do u think the new buyer will do with it ? Will the new buyer butcher it and sell its parts in scrap or will fix whatever is wrong with it and continue using ? My guess is the latter .

The Iranian president’s plane crashed due to bad weather and not due to any fault ( according to Iranian authorities ) .

It is pure misinformation to claim they are buying yeh new jet to avoid the Iranian presidential crash issue .

So you think its misinformation to replace an old aircraft? One that has malfunctioned in recent past?
Do you think its reasonable to replace an older aircraft for newer one due to safety reasons

This anti Tinubu wahala sha. when be say he wont take the plane with him whenever he leaves office. Okay he go dey enter Keke Napep

So when planes get fault the next thing to do is buy another one right ? Planes don’t get repaired ?

The Iranian helicopter crashed due to adverse weather , the same way Wigwe’s chopper crashed due to adverse weather . Nowhere in the screenshot u posted was it stated that the chopper crashed due to it being old .

Most aircraft in the Nigerian aviation sector flying commercial are older than the president’s plane sef.

The lamba APC chose to sell is that an old plane needs to be replaced and not repaired . I understand sha

My 3 tg wallets got thousands of dogs locked in..

Faded notcoin, corrected it with dogs 🦴
