Choosing the Right Aluminum Roofing Sheet Thickness 🏠

Did you know that the thickness of your aluminum roofing sheet can make a big difference in its durability and performance? Here’s how to choose the right thickness for your building:

For Residential Homes:

A medium thickness (around 0.45mm to 0.55mm) is ideal. It offers a great balance of durability and cost-effectiveness, perfect for protecting your home while maintaining an appealing look.
For Commercial Buildings:

Opt for thicker sheets (0.70mm and above) for enhanced strength and longevity. These are perfect for withstanding harsh weather conditions and providing long-term protection for larger structures.
For Lightweight Structures:

If you're working on a lightweight structure like a shed or a carport, a thinner sheet (0.35mm to 0.40mm) can be a cost-effective and sufficient choice.
Remember: The right thickness not only ensures the longevity of your roof but also adds to the overall structural integrity of your building. Choose wisely to maximize the benefits of your aluminum roofing sheet!

Hello guys.
I am about to do the roofing in this house but I’m scared if the front won’t collapse after sometime owing to the fact that there is no supporting pillars and with the weight of the wood work and the Gerald roof resting on it. He assured me he used enough 16mm rods with good reinforcement. What do you guys think?

@Billions123 For this you either need to monitor the project yourself or have someone you trust to monitor for you if not you will spend extremely higher than that. Considering the current economic situation in Nigeria and everybody eye Dey very Red. As in very very Red. If anyone hand touch you, your blood go Dry o. That’s just the fact. I heard a guy abroad placed cameras on his site just to monitor his site work from abroad. Lol

30m down and it hasn't gotten to the real cost intensive parts ooo. grin
I just finished working at a site with about four cameras

With well reinforced beam, you have no problem there with the cantilever.
However,I can't see any beam there presently n it's beam needs to be connected with the other beam coming from the walls.

This Quote is for a 5 bedroom duplex as at 3 weeks ago August 2024 and current prices of building materials in Nigeria. Total for this 5 bedroom duplex’ might be higher than this depending on your taste on interiors and exterior. Just thought to share mainly because of people in diaspora who are confused and don’t know the current prices of materials. Continuation below:

Rub palm oil on 4 bitter kola and bury each at the four corners of the site. Then, look for urine of a female goat to sprinkle around.
Dem no born any evil to cross that area.

A quick question builders.

Build a twin detached duplex in Nigeria for rent (southeast) or use the money to purchase more lands or hold the money in a mutual fund while determining the economic and security situation of the country.

The funds for the building comes in monthly trickles

Let’s learn something new. So, I just bought this particular Truck of Granite for 194,500 full 15 tonnes. They call this Truck Julius Berger when delivering and buying Granite. Usually, when you ask for 15 tonnes, they cheat you by using a smaller Truck which will only contain 10 tonnes of Granite and call it 15 tonnes for you. So, Whenever you want to buy your Granite, instead of saying you want to buy 15 tonnes of Granite, just tell them you want 15 tonnes of Julius Berger. The Julius Berger Truck is what will give you your Full complete 15 tonnes of Granite. The Julius Berger Truck is almost double the size of the Truck they will bring to you as 15 tonnes which is not 15 tonnes but 10 tonnes. I have attached the image of the Julius Berger Truck and amount of Granite that was delivered to my site.

How many tyres does it have?
I usually use the tyres to gauge how many tonnes the truck can carry.
6tyres can carry a max of 10tonnes
10tyres can carry upto 25tonnes
12tyres can carry 30 to 35tonnes
18tyres can carry 40plus tonnes

Na mumu go wan use 6tyres bring 15tonnes for me.

In the East, 4 flats instead of detached twin duplex will be more money if you are considering rental.

Mutual fund might return up to 7-10% annually.
Let’s do the calculation with $100k (#155M). Foreign mutual fund ( in dollars) is better to avoid devaluation of naira.

10% of #155M is #15 less tax #12M

Rent for 4 flats in developing area in Enugu or Owerri is an average of #700k yearly x 4 = .#2.8M

Land is not predictable. But averagely you must hold it up to 2 to 3 years to see significant return of about 30 -50 percent.

In every investment, there is always the risk of loss of money.

It is possible to have such design without any fear of collapse, if it is properly designed by a structural engineer and also constructed as designed cos the weight of the roof members: trusses and covering would have been taken into consideration during the design stage.

For such cantilever beams, the size and position/placement of the reinforcement bar is very important in order to adequately support the load it would be subjected to without any deflection or failure.

If your engineer has done the right thing then there is nothing to be worried about.

But don’t forget that your property value is also increasing over time. That is also capital gain.

Right now, in the US there are some banks offering up to 5 % on CD ( certificate or fixed deposit). This option is almost zero risk but the returns as you can see is quite low.
