Bandits have attacked Moriki community in Zamfara State on Wednesday night, kidnapping over 10 residents and demanding a ransom of N50 million.

The police spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police has directed operatives to take immediate action to rescue the victims.

A Moriki resident told BBC Hausa Service on Thursday that the bandits had previously disturbed the community and also kidnapped locals before.

“The bandits claimed that their cattle were killed by the community’s commander. They attacked the community, going from house to house to abduct our people, and have set a deadline for us to pay the N50 million ransom,” he said.

A friend of mine from the north told me it is the Fulani that was killing the Hausa in other to take over their lands

i ask what steps they are taking to rectify this issue, he said most of the Nigeria are Fulani

and that's the reason why most time we see Nigeria Army escorting Fulani herdsmen with their cows in the forest embarassed embarassed

it might take 700 years for the North to develop cry cry

Kidnapping in the midst of a bad economy. Even kidnappers should be calming down.

Hmm!
While this news would have been taken as an emergency in saner climes, in Nigeria it's just a normal every day news like a weather forecast. I pray they are set free in one piece 🙏

Way back, we didn't have words like "Kidnapped" in our national lexicon. It was a word hardly used or when used, referred to an occurrence in a foreign or far away land.

Then came the Niger Delta militants and the kidnapping of expat oil workers. Even at that, the target was never local.

Somehow, the expats withdrew or heavily militarized their operations making it near impossible to be kidnapped.

This criminal act was then legalized by the Musa Ya'radua administration with the granting of amnesty and enthronement of tribal militant lords. Ateke, Boyloaf, Asari, Tompolo, to mention a few.

The amnesty program opened the eyes of politicians up north to the gains of terror and the subsequent benefits politically.

Militancy brought about the NDDC. Today, terror has led to the creation of the NEDC, seperatist agitations in the South East has birthed the SEDC. More to come.

We have heard of repentant Boko Haram members being reintegrated and settled amongst the civil society and very soon might be handling security contracts like the likes of Tompolo are doing in the Niger Delta. It could be "FarmLand" security running into billions. What is good for Tompolo is surely good for Mai Taushe.

In conclusion, all these insecurities have political undertones. It was an open secret that the likes of Peter Odili, James Ibori, Alameiyesiegha and co were the sponsors of the Militants way back. We also know how they protected Tompolo from the Buhari regime until a truce was brokered. Same can be said of the North. A prominent former governor has been fingered, our VP is rumoured a major player, senators have been whispered to be in bed with bandits, traditional and religious leaders are not left out.

In all, just like the case with the Niger Delta, politicians and those enthroned warlords become the beneficiary of the chaos and not the common man. Tompolo is now a billionaire contractor with the federal government, Ateke is now a king in his native OkrikaLand, Asari is a yes man boy to any president at the Rock because of the huge followership he commands. He (Asari) is also rumoured to have a university in far away Benin republic.

Just to remind you, Ogoni is still an environmental wasteland, Torugbene has no link road(s), Bonny is still an explorative island, there are still no hospitals for the locals and access to qualitative education is still miles away for people living in Imiringi.

Who benefits from all these again?

These security threats not only undermine national stability and the rule of law but also have adverse effects on the economy, affecting price, output, employment, trade balance, poverty, inequality, defense expenditure, government budget patterns, socio-political environment, and several others.

Until insecurity is dealt with 100% the economy shall continue to be hit.

Not even for once has the Nigerian police tracked these guys to their hideout, infact I can't call if hideout because they constantly reveal their location on social media but the police is quite and turning blind eyes to it.

But if na to track someone that wrote article about fashola or other nonsensical issues, the police will be swift.

Muyiwa adejobi claimed the police could track anyone in Nigeria within two hours, but bandits still roaming about
