Good evening everyone, please I have dual intent application in progress, visitors Visa and spouse sponsorship application, I have done my biometric, medical passed, SA approval for my the spouse sponsorship application, for the visitors visa I just got a refusal letter today and the reason was baseless because I have everything addressed in the visitor visa application. My family ties, more than 20m in my account, properties documents. Travel history. Hope it’s not going to affect my family class application because, the stage I am right now in my PR application is background check. Anyone have experience this before and what is the success rate for my PR and what will likely happen? Share you thoughts please.

According to IRCC, when you receive the AOR (Acknowledgment of Receipt) for your spousal sponsorship application, your spouse or partner can apply for a visitor visa. If they’re eligible, their application will be processed faster. You should include the AOR in the TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) application, along with evidence of sufficient funds to support the application and relevant proof of home ties. However, since you applied for the visitor visa before applying for spousal sponsorship and did not qualify under this rule, it is important to note that your visitor visa refusal should not affect your PR application, especially if the refusal was not due to misrepresentation.

Each application is processed independently, I know someone who had Visitor visa refused and Spousal approved after awhile.
Having a current spousal application doesn’t exactly scream I plan to visit my spouse and come back to Nigeria 🇳🇬 to the visa officer.
You and/or your spouse should keep sending webform appealing for prompt processing as you already have SA approval. Do you know the visa office processing the application?
Yes it’s Kenya office for the visitors visa and PR Ghana

Taiwo2023:
Good day to you,
I want to apply for a visitor visa in Canada to attend my brother's convocation in November.
However, in filling the online form, am bit confused, where it's stated
1.Select: why do you need a visitor visa?
What will i select, cause my brother is on study permit not a PR or citizen.
2. Select : why are you applying for the visa?
Will i select to visit as a tourist or family visit. Since i want to see my sibling.
Please i need someone to guide me on this application. I don't want to make a mistake.
Thank you,
Taiwo.

Your purpose of visit is a family visit, and attach supporting documents, including an invitation letter from your brother, convocation ceremony details, proof of your relationship with him such as a birth certificate or passport pages showing family ties, copy of his student permit, your business or work document and proof of funds to support your trip.

Biometrics instruction letter will be sent to you by IRCC, read the letter and follow the link to book your appointment.

Thanks for your response. I now got the biometrics letter that I should appear fot my biometrics capturing 30days from the day I got the letter without any link to book for appointment. Should I just take the letter together with my resident permit to the VAC office without booking an appointment?

I have a valid and expired U.S. visas and previous biometrics from 2021. My previous attempt to renew took time and I withdrew the application and lost the visa fee
I submitted again in June (27th)

Hi, not to be scared, your PR application will be approved provided your BG check is fine, but when is what I can't say, I know folks stuck on BG check for over 6 months and no end in sight.

Now to address the dual intent, i think these VOs (offices/officers) don't have a base guidelines of approval on these type of things. As a matter of fact, I was in same category as you are, submitted TRV just 3 weeks after submitting Spousal (i never even collect AoR sef, talk more of spousal approval), first time my MP reached out to the visa office a month after submission, the reply was that my TRV will be rejected cus of dual intent, blah blah blah. i followed up with my MP when my processing time elapsed, as at when i submitted, i think it was 147 days from 9ja, the following week, i got the visit visa approved. As i type, eligibility for spousal hasn't not started according to 2 GCMS (with the latest received this month).

This begs the question, how exactly do they base the application and give a decision on dual intent? nobody knows. Just keep calm, hope for a speedy approval for your PR and pray for the best.

TBH, this is the best way and you could also make use of an MP, that may help.

My first application was January 2022 with Visa Approved in April 2023. I was issued with a 9 month visa due to my passport nearing expiry.

I reapplied in February this year after visiting Canada last year and I was issued a visa in July 2024 to expire February 2032 which is when the biometrics from my previous visa application expires.

If you have no family in Canada or no significant travel history, and you're applying for just a tourist visit visa in this 2024 , it's best not to be overly optimistic. Even with 10 billion in proof of funds, the refusal rate for new travelers is extremely high. It's wise to have an alternative plan!!
