Arsenal had the best defence last season and conceded 2 goals in some games (At home to Aston Villa comes to mind). Having a good defence does not mean NEVER conceding. Just like having a good attack does not mean ALWAYS scoring. That goes for your Bayern argument.

There is a reason i stopped involving myself in this issue of attack and defence argument sometimes last season because i felt our major problem was Pochettino........but you cannot begin to blame a defence that concede 4goals out of 6 opponents attack to an attacker that scores 1 or 2 goals by attacking his opponents 25times.

I feel like you are not getting to the depth of the matter. Can any team win a game 0-0? There is no need for the non-starter arguments. Just like winning a game 1-0 does not mean the winner set out to only score one, same way losing 1-0 does not mean the team set out to ONLY not concede. Teams set out to WIN. That is context 1.

Next, when I speak about context, it is because you cannot isolate 1 instance to draw a grand conclusion. You have to look at the argument from a body of work. CFCs defense (NOT NECESSARILY DEFENDERS) was the problem. Defense comprises of but is not limited to the defenders. It is the system in place as well. Maresca complained about the high line from last season for example. I don't want to have to break this down further as I am avoiding a long post. I trust you get me.

To you, it might not make any sense. A defensive line consist of 4 traditional defenders and either one or two midfielders who shield the defence. One midfielder if a single DM and two if a pivot.

They are the defensive line because they don't press high up. I suspect this is where your confusion comes.

At least for recency, go and watch Arsenal Vs Aston Villa. Villa double pivot made them very compact and limited the number of time Odegaard and Rice made entry into the box. Likewise, Timber and particularly White didn't overlap like they used to. Overall, Arsenal committed less men forward for fear of losing the ball and facing serious attacking threat.

At least, I am sure you remember White running us ragged last season.

Exactly, the defence is not great but at least it's serviceable for now. First goal we conceded today was a carbon copy of the one against city, turn over the ball carelessly and an attacker brushed pass Enzo/caicedo like a paper to score. Maresca made adjustments in the second half and made Enzo and caicedo play closer to each other compared to the first half .

The likes of pep and klopp made sure their attack was scoring and okay before splashing on their defence. We have sorted our attack or atleast sorting it. Let's wait till January and if there is no improvement we go into the market again.
