The yorubas had the highest number because they were constantly fighting amongst themselves over leadership.
And because they didn't want to kill their opponents after their wars and didn't also want to keep them, they sent them away with the Europeans to handle instead.

On the other hand, the igbos had the second largest as a result of their caste system called OSU which made some of the members of the group to become OUTCASTS. They were like the lowest members of the igbo society and were UNTOUCHABLES. Even today, an igbo person will never sexually touch if he/she knows that their forebears were OUTCASTS. These were the people that the igbos sent away.

In fact, men from my tribes married a lot of IGBO slave women as wives and their children went on to become kings and other prominent members of our society.

Bro, I am sorry to burst your bubble but the Yorubas are well known for altering their history.

As long as Nigeria is concerned, no tribe invaded another and sold them into slavery.
First of all, slavery in Africa have existed for a long time in different forms depending on the tribes.
My tribesmen can be slave ONLY IF they had a debt to pay BUT were never SLAVES to the EUROPEANS. Just amongst us.
All tribes practised slavery in one form or the other.
But the transatlantic slaves in Nigeria were constituted mainly of IGBOS, YORUBAS and URHOBOS.
