Please do @elengine, so I can ask this question that’s confusing me. I’ve exhausted all my math skills (admittedly not very much) trying to work out whether an SIPP is better than a LISA for investment savings.

Good day all

Please does anyone know of a great childminder within a short distance from North Greenwich station , London
Basically a distance from the O2 that isn’t more than 20 minutes , like Lewisham and the other surrounding areas
Someone who is patience , and diligent and can take care of a baby during working hours 8-6 or 8:30 to 6, 3 days in a week starting end of October

Kindly email customerclouduk@gmail.com

Why SIPP...Hope you know they can't access the funds until age 55 or so...Abeg money is best for them when they are young...Thats the best start to life that can be given

Yes I need to create time to do it. After listening to the podcast by Morgan Housel on whether to buy a house for investment or invest in a SnP 500 companies. So I feel people need to do their math very well before going into real estate. A real life analysis shows that it is a not a good investment options

LISA and SIPP are different products that is meant to meet a different need. LISA is an ISA to save for your first house or for later in life savings. SIPP on the other hand is a pension that you invest for yourself.

I suspect you are saving for "later in life". If yes, then it depends on you really on what the fund is for.

I will tend towards SIPP. I can then use it to invest in the stock market and watch it grow. But that is a personal preference.

For example, I have a SIPP at the moment with HL and I have invested into a few stocks on the NYSE that have done well over the past one year.

You can also consider a stocks/shares ISA instead.

I can 100% tell you that investing in properties in the UK will give you more returns than S&P 500. What determines which one you do is based on (a) Do you want to own properties and manage it (b) Do you prefer hands free investment etc.

Put feelers our in your local church/mosque (if you go to one). There would be people who need this type of roles (currently unemployed) who can do this.

Tax rises were smackdab right in the centre of the manifesto. He only committed to not raising NI ,VAT and income tax.

Not many people are surprised by this. I m going about my business jejely.
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by missjekyll: 6:44am On Aug 28
I support the meanstesting of the winter fuel allowance .
(It hasn't been withdrawn,it's now only paid to pensioners who are already on some benefits)

I recognise that this means people who earn even 1 pound over the threshold can fall off a cliffedge. I believe this particular group should receive some form of cushioning payment. But all in all, gone are the days of the stereotypical "poor pensioner".

The state should not be in the business of handing out public money to well off people.

Please if anyone gets information on a 2 or 1 bedroom flat for rent available to families, and (not a shared space, multiple occupancy ) within south-east London for below £1000 (unfurnished or otherwise)
Kindly let me know please

Hi, my wife is an international student. She failed a module and was asked to resit. Now she has done the resit, the results came out last week and she passed but she hasn’t been awarded a certificate yet. Her student visa expires in second week of September . Can she go ahead and apply for PSW if she hasn’t been awarded a certificate before her visa expires. Thank you

Thanks. I'm not talking about children though (I'm guessing you're referring to the Junior SIPP). I'm referring to the standard one.

Thanks! Yes it's not for first time house purchase - it's for later life. You can also invest your LISA in specific funds/bonds, etc (using Moneybox - not sure about other platforms or whether you buy specific stocks, although I have no interest in picking stocks anyway).

My issue is that it appears that the ability to get 40% tax relief plus being able to access it at 55 (57 from 2028) instead of 60 for the LISA makes it a much better option than the LISA's 25% bonus but I'm trying to balance that against the tax downside (it has withdrawal tax unlike the LISA).

Annoying to announceagain that my daughter's passport was not processed.

Her application form was returnedby post (wasting our return postal envelope) only to add a stick-it note saying she is to reappear for capturing.

This is annoying anf unacceptable. I am looking to spending nothing less than £500-600 on this trip from Scottish island to London.

Whatever happened to communicating via email?
CheesyTee:
Thanks to everyone, her passport was dispatched for delivery yesterday, although the status on NIS page still shows “pending NIN verification” but ultimately, revalidating NIN helped.

Tbh, I doubt if you would find a one bed or two bed for less than 1k in SE London. The least you would get a 1bed (if you are lucky) is around 1250, just forget about 2bed. Most studio apartment are going for 800 to 1k

If she passed and she doesn’t owe any fee then she can go ahead and apply.

Ask her to confirm with her university's student immigration office/unit first. She can only apply when they tell her they have notified the HO that she has completed her course, but this is something that most universities will usually expedite in situations like hers, when requested.

There is no way a major economy as financialised as the UK's economy can be run without European levels of tax o.

Hi, this evening while reviewing my finances and bills, i happen to go over my water bill again. Last year 2023/2024, my annual water bill was 657.71, this year 2024/2025 my bill went up to 830.63. We're a family of 3. Myself, My wife and a 1yr child. How we pay this much still baffles me. I live in a 2bedroom. Isn't this too much of a bill for water ?
