If you have no family in Canada or no significant travel history, and you're applying for just a tourist visit visa in this 2024 , it's best not to be overly optimistic. Even with 10 billion in proof of funds, the refusal rate for new travelers is extremely high. It's wise to have an alternative plan!!

Quoting from this news source, the 700% increase in asylum claims is high and will surely affect current applicants for visitor visas from Nigeria, unless we are not ready to face the truth.

"The sheer volume of asylum claims filed at Canadian airports by Indian nationals has set new records, raising concerns and prompting discussions about the underlying causes and potential implications for both Canada and India.

Not only from India, claims by Bangladeshis at Canadian airports have risen by over 1,200% and by nearly 700% from Nigerians."

As we speak, sadly many ppl are still planning to go file Asylum in Canada and they use tourist and conference the most from data. People like Bobrisky who can even get it easily are not interested in it.

Given that you have only 3 weeks left until your flight, it might be challenging to secure a Canada transit visa in time. I recommend applying for a UK transit visa or a Schengen transit visa instead, as most travelers from Nigeria take routes through Europe, flying with airlines like British Airways, Air France, KLM or Qatar airline via london to Nassau, Bahamas.

Transit/tourist visa will go through normal process by IRCC.
So expect to wait for around 6 months for decision which will most likely be refused.

They are even turning people back in transit. Just turned someone going to study from Frankfurt airport. He had no POF and eventually stated he wanted asylum. He was turned back.

Yeah I applied for the UK transit (Visitor in transit) cos I’ll need to check in my bags to a different airline on my way back from Bahamas, but was denied 2 days ago , also I saw someone did the UK visit and got the same refusal letter I got as well , so I’m trying to find alternative, my only options are US , UK and Canada.

Hello everyone, I applied in 2019 for PR to join my wife who is a Canadian citizen, I was refused because the VO was not convicted our marriage was genuine because we applied immediately after our marriage ceremony, I met my wife online we dated for 6 years online before we got married, we met in person twice before our marriage, first time was for 2 weeks visit outside Canada and the second time was 3 weeks that was when we got married, since our refusal 2022 because the 2019 PR application too more than 2 years before we got refused due to the COVID pandemic, my wife have visited me twice 2022 and 2023 we celebrated our 4th year wedding anniversary. We applied for a visitors visa to visit my wife in Canada to be able to celebrate Christmas together and also to meet with her family, my TRV was refuse February 8 2024. After the refusal we decided to apply for PR again when we got AOR we apply for a visitor visa dual intent for me to be about to visit my wife and celebrate our 5th year anniversary also addressed the refusal reason for the first visitor visa on the new application sadly I got another refusal. Do you think the reason for those refusal is because of my first PR refusal because the reason for the refusal is not really making sense to me. Now I am worried if this will affect our PR application in progress, PR Biometric done, Medical passed, sponsor approved just waiting for pre-arrival and PPR. I am so worried after all this refusal. Please what is your thoughts and opinions about my situation?

Your previous refusals, particularly the PR refusal in 2022 due to concerns about the genuineness of your marriage, may have impacted your recent visa applications. Visa officers often exercise caution in such cases, especially when there is a history of refusal related to doubts about the relationship. However, if your current PR application includes stronger evidence and is well-prepared, it should help address those concerns.
I suggest you stay patient and optimistic as your PR application progresses. Wishing you all the best!

The VO that treated the first application might have left a very bad note on his profile.

Best way to confirm is to get the gcms note. He should try and get all the refusal notes, easy as ABC. It helps to reduce the specualtions.

Visa officers are simply performing their duties, and there isn't necessarily a good or bad note. If your application appears suspicious—due to insufficient documentation, inconsistencies in the relationship history, or other red flags suggesting the marriage may not be genuine—it will likely be rejected for permanent residence (PR). Any visitor visa application submitted after a PR rejection is also likely to be denied. Therefore, the best approach is to carefully prepare and present a strong spouse sponsorship application.

Good day, everyone, this a general post for anyone who has ideas or answers to my questions.
I am mother of three looking to move to Canada with my kids. I have a five year visitor visa already. My questions are:
Which province is most suitable for me,in respect to settling in, finding a job and school for my kids, price of accommodation and cost of living generally.

I have always been a business woman and from what I have gathered it's easier for skilled workers to get jobs so which training or programs can I run and get certified before travelling next year?

Is it possible to write Canadian certificate examinations from Nigeria and get certified.

I'm based in Port Harcourt,is there anyone from Port Harcourt here who can help me with information on any of the questions I have asked?

I'm open to any advice I get because I intend to either get a job from here before coming or get a job when I arrive.

Please help a sister.

it's important to understand the type of visa you have and the restrictions associated with it. A Canada visitor visa is strictly for visiting purposes. Many people who travelled from Nigeria to Canada last year on visitor visas, including those on this forum, hoped to secure an LMIA to convert their visitor visa to a work visa, even with certifications like truck driving. However, they ended up applying for asylum under false pretenses due to the extreme difficulty in obtaining a work permit. This situation has resulted in a 700% increase in asylum applications from Nigerians, which is now negatively impacting the approval rates for visitor visas. Additionally, the cost of obtaining an LMIA can be very high, ranging from 20,000 to 35,000 CAD, and there is also a risk of potential fraud and fake Lmia . Converting a visitor visa into a work visa is generally not easy because it requires a job offer, and even currently residents, students, and Canadian citizens in Canada are struggling to find jobs. Since a visitor visa is not a residency visa, it's crucial to clear up any misconceptions and be fully aware of the realities ahead. I won't discuss the pros and cons of the asylum route here on a public forum, but I wish you and your children all the best.

Anyone here submitted February 23?
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Jeboy(m): 4:17pm On Aug 26
Your best bet is not to japaa as a visitor.

Get into the pool for Federal Express Entry. Get tested in French and English and aim high score. With a good work experience and education you are likely to be nominated by one of the Canadian province.

If this option is too difficult for you then go through school ( a Masters or 2 yr Diploma course) so you can have 3 yrs PGWP to enable you find a job and pursue PR before your status expires. But again this option is damn expensive but seems convenient as your school period will enable you work part time and study the economics of the country yourself.

Someone above has advised you of the reality with visitor visa status and it's just the bitter truth. If you try it, you may end up as an asylum seeker which will likely be rejected and you may be forcefully ejected out of Canada which will make you unable to relocate or travel to many if the western countries because of your failed asylum attempt. A word is enough for the wise.

Starting from September 26th , Temporary Foreign Workers cap (limit) for every workplace in Canada will reduce from 20% to 10%.

The implication is just few jobs (10% of a workforce) will only be left for foreigners workers with LMIA or PGWP or SOWP or BWP as there people will take 90% of the jobs with exception to Construction, Healthcare and Hospitality industry. If you just have visitor visa, your chances of getting a job reduces to 0.00001%

Canada is gradually becoming South Africa small small.

you cant get a job with visitors visa as u have no scarce skill. Business woman is not an employable job role. Unless your intention is to apply for asylum at entry
