Sokoto Residents Storm Forests To Confront Bandits, Vow To Rescue 150 Abducted Victims, Recover Body Of Slain Traditional Ruler

The residents comprising men and women reportedly embarked on the mission aiming to rescue 150 kidnapped compatriots and to also recover the remains of the slain district head of Gobir, Isa Mohammad Bawa.

Thousands of residents of Gobir in Sokoto State have stormed the forests to confront bandits and rescue their abducted relations, citing the continuous failure of the security forces.

The residents comprising men and women reportedly embarked on the mission aiming to rescue 150 kidnapped compatriots and to also recover the remains of the slain district head of Gobir, Isa Mohammad Bawa.

SaharaReporters had on August 21, 2024 reported that the Sarkin Gobir of Gatawa District in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa has been brutally killed by bandits after being abducted, tortured, and dehumanised.

Few days after the traditional ruler's gruesome murder, bandits reportedly attacked Gobir town and abducted over 150 mourners, according to Prof. Bello Bada of the Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto.

The kidnapping cases were recorded between when the late emir was killed and Friday last week.

However the Nigerian police had denied the claim. "We're not aware of the kidnapping of 150 people in the Gobir Emirate of Sokoto State," the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Ahmed Rufai, said.

Nonetheless, thousands of residents of Gobir are seen in a viral video trooping into the forest chanting war songs, invoking the name of Allah.

"It's fight to finish! Its either us or them (bandits), no going back," they chanted.

Pity!

How are the mighty fallen?
Sokoto state was once peaceful.
It's today turned the den of bandits.
It's a pitty!

And who is misleading these people?
If they're just matching into the forests unarmed to confront armed bandits, isn't that a suicide mission?
Except, of course, it's just for internet sensationalism.

Other Northern states should replicate this,by the time the bandits are surrounded, they will have no choice than to surrender. An angry majority is more dangerous than an armed minority

I've been saying it on this forum, commercialize security and watch the people secure their self. Take a look at the POS thing , when the bank failed , the people started making cash available.

The people are now ready to tame the monster they created and nurtured. With this event, Sokoto will be back to live. Also, religious extremism must not be allowed. So, Deborah killer should be fished out. Else all na circle race.

Those bandits are ret.arded and they don't give a damn about nobody. Funny thing is that they are homegrown bandits without any international affiliation.

I hope the people succeed

Buhari borrowed Yes
How much did Buhari borrowed throughout his 8 years?

Buhari borrowed to build Lagos Ibadan rail and it is there for all to see

He borrowed to build Warri Itakpe rail, it is there for everyone to see

He borrowed to build Second Niger bridge in Anambra, it is there for everyone to see and use

He borrowed to build Loko Oweto bridge its there for us to see and use

He borrowed to modernize our airports across the country, it is there for us to see and use

He borrowed to build roads and bridges across the country,

Gave us imfastuctural development that even his hatters can never denies it's existence

He borrowed to give us subsidy and we were able to get petrol at N200 per liter

He borrowed to defend the Naira and the highest our Naira rate per dollars in black market that the government didn't defend was N762 per dollars

He borrowed to defend our farmers by introducing different Agric programs that's why garri remained the last helper of the poor throughout his term as president

But for OTP, One Term President, we never see anything yet.
