It's a two thing, the government should reduce the exchange rate for duties paid for importation of essential goods and services not manufactured in Nigeria as recommended by Presidential committee on taxation and fiscal policies that recommended 800 naira to 1 dollar as exchange rate for duties on imported goods and services.

Market forces determine the price. You can't win this battle

In Nigeria, that is very rare. There are market associations that fix the price of foodstuff and tell their members not to sell below a certain price

Demand and supply controls prices

But when unchecked, they becomes the biggest Oligopoly and Monopolistic in nature - pure exploitative!
We Nigerians know these things but we don't love like the White man,as we are too greedy.
However, the Federal Govt should have Surplus of these items.e.g Surplus Foodstuffs, even temporary Imports of 2-to - 3 years-that would force the Products Prices down!
e.g Nigeria is not having enough of Rice Production, then we need to severely Imports these Products and by so doing Prices - will Collapse.
Where are the Rice in our Markets.
Just the Truth!

Authoritarian govt
Anybody with Bello attached tò his name is a big problem to the people. If you doubt, ask Kogi people about Yahaya Bello. He really finished Kogi state. Then go to Zamfara and ask them about Turji Bello. He's the kidnap kingpin of the state with the Nigerian army able to do anyhing to him. Now in Abuja, we have another Tunji Bello dishing out threats to innocent traders to cut down their prices. After Turji Bello has forced them to pay before harvesting crops, another Tunji Bello is forcing the same victims to reduce prices of farm produce.
Can the average and poor ever breathe in Nigeria?

terrible socialist move.

Demand and supply control prices in a free market, not government.

What this will do will just force manufacturers to cut corners on their products to meet FG "regulated" price.
