If it's your major sim, then try to port to other networks like Airtel or MTN.
That's what I did. And although no network is perfect, I believe the two I mentioned are farrr better than that crap called 9mobile.

Cheap data at affordable price and endless bonus plus free night browsing from 11pm once you purchase 1 GB data you must have other other network to enjoy all these features you can buy 6 GB data today and they went off for a week you switch back to your old network you will still enjoy your 6 GB data when their network return nothing cheap comes freely in this world

I believe the issue is from 9mobile itself.
I was lucky to receive the message that I have ported successfully.

They won't allow 9mobile live and they won't let it die.

Sad state of the network.

If you really need to retain that number!
Port to a network with Better reception around where you live or work.

For me, I went to a major Airtel branch office (not all this road side office that only do sim registration and welcome back o. Those ones will even tell you they don't do such and will direct you if you are in a different location from me) in Town planning way Ilupeju Lagos just at Anthony bustop.

They will ask you to send "port" to 3232 or call the number or so after you have filled a form.
This is where you will encounter problem as 9mobile network is very bad

Then you'll do data capturing and be given an Airtel sim card.

You will then be told to insert the Sim card after your 9mobile goes completely out of service (when it will write "no service" or 'no network' and not 'emergency call'). It takes a max of 1 week for that to happen.

The process is free. You will not pay a dime throughout.

I hope this helps.

Really? my 9mobile is kinda fast. At my house it's not that fast but decent enough to open WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube (At 480p) and also download movies. And at my place of work, i start seeing close to Airtel and MTN like speeds. And the funny thing is that I'm yet to cut my 9mobile sim card to nano size. So i can't use it in my 4g phone yet. So I'm wondering what it's 4g speed would look like.
I guess it's based on location.

Well I've had 9mobile from day 1 and only last year I started experiencing issues like this.
I thought it was my router, But noticed when I'm out of my house the network is fast but in my house no network at all, just comes in few times.

Now I mostly do 1tb a year which is more like a backup when I'm home as I have free and fast WiFi at work, and that's one reason Im still using it as I still have a goor amount of data I just rollover

It took me exactly 1 week.
They told me it won't exceed that period.
Did you port from 9mobile too?
