Pastor Adeboye’s Son, Adeolu Hadn’t Joined Ronchess As Director When Kaduna Contracts Were Awarded; He’s Allowed By Law To Execute Contracts, Says Company

Ronchess Global Resources Plc has denied that Adeolu Adeboye, son of Redeemed Christian Church of God's General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and one of its Board of Directors received over N8 billion from Kaduna State Government for a contract, but abandoned the project after 30% completion.

SaharaReporters reported on August 27, 2024, that Adeolu, who secured the contract through Ronchess Global Resources Plc during former Governor Nasir El-Rufai's administration, have been evading accountability for the diverted funds and unfinished project.

But Ronchess Global Resources Plc in a rejoinder to the report dated August 30, 2024 with Ref: A&C/RC/PUB-01/08/2024, and titled "Pastor Adeolu Adeboye was never awarded any contract by the Kaduna State Government," stating that the contract for the projects was awarded before Adeboye joined the company as a director.

The report was signed by Adesoji Adedoyin, Esq on behalf of Ronchess Global Resources Plc.

It admitted that the projects were left, but said they were stopped because the Kaduna State Government failed to pay for the projects executed/completed amounting to N1,391,782, 486.45 (N1.39 billion).

While the firm admitted that Pastor Adeolu Adeboye is a member of the board of Ronchess Global Resources Plc, it, however, said he was not part of the company when the contracts were awarded.

The firm said Adeolu joined in 2021.

It said, "In fact, Pastor Adeolu Adeboye was not even instrumental to the award of the contracts. He (Pastor Adeolu) was neither a Board member nor a Shareholder of Ronchess at the time the Contract was awarded to Ronchess.”

The rejoinder partly reads: "Based on the execution of the above contracts and after the successful execution of the Sokoto Bank road that went viral, the Government of Kaduna State in year, 2020, again awarded the following road contracts to Ronchess: Kaduna Road Projects under Kaduna Urban Renewal Road Component.

"The Isa Kaita Road; The Sultan Road; The Waziri-Maccido; The PAN Drive Road; The Katuru-Badarawa road; Zaria Road Projects under Zaria Urban Renewal Road Component; The Kofar Doka Bridge and Wusasa Dan Magaji-Nagoyi-River Galma Bridge Road with Clover Interchange.

"Due to the inflation and additional works to be done which were not contemplated in the original contract agreement, the Kaduna Roads Projects Contract sum were (sic) revised from N10, 962, 393, 459. 76 to N15, 393, 429, 595. 10 while the Zaria Roads Projects sum were (sic) revised from N8, 739, 403, 114. 74 to N17, 262, 790. 888. 60. At all material times relevant to the bidding and award of the contracts which occurred in year 2020, Pastor Adeolu Adeboye was never a Board Member of the Company. Pastor Adeolu became a Board Member of the Company in 2021.

"In executing these projects, the mobilization fee was given with Advance Payment Guarantee (APG) provided by Ronchess and after utilizing the APG. The APG was duly discharged by the Kaduna State Government after the certification of work done by the Kaduna State Government Consultants. This led to the issuance of Certificate Valuation which enable the contractors to apply for further payment in execution of the ongoing projects upon milestones of work done.

Whether this claim is true or false, the point remains that there's no justification for the media to use Pastor Adeboye's name to report the failure of the project. Adeboye's name was not used to sign and announce the contract.

I was called unprintable names because I asked why Pastor Adeboye is used to announce the abandonment of the project. That very post meant to tarnish Adeboye's image has "Pastor Adeboye" in the caption. This one that is meant to clear Adeboye's name does not have "Pastor Adeboye" in the caption. Can't you see the mischievousness?

I asked whether the news about the awarding of the contract was captioned with Pastor Adeboye when the contract was awarded. I asked whether Pastor Adeboye was mentioned in the contract papers. I asked whether the contract failed because Adeolu's father is Pastor Adeboye. I also asked if Pastor Adeboye would have been used to caption the news about the celebration of the project by the time the project is completed and commissioned by the governor of the state. Fanatics couldn't answer any of these questions. They sentimentally resorted to insulting me and claiming that I am a supporter of Pastor Adeboye. They hate the truth when it does not favour their sentiments.

Pastor Adeboye is not in any way my role model in Christianity. Those who have come across comments I dropped on threads about the things Pastor Adeboye, Pastor David Oyedepo and some other pastors do in the name of Christianity will admit that I am not a fan of these pastors. But I will never support craftiness against these pastors or any other person. The standard should be the same for everybody. If mentioning the parents of a suspect is the standard way for the media to report crimes and offences, why don't the media mention unpopular parents of accused persons? Why do the media mention parents only when the parents are famous?

I am not surprised. These are the same mischievousness and double standards they use against some personalities and some regions. The name and the picture of any civilian that kills a soldier or a police officer are released to the public. But the name and the picture of a soldier or a police officer that kills a civilian are hidden from the public. Every news about Tonto, weather positive or negative, is reported without Churchill's name. Every good news about Churchill is reported without Tonto's name. But every negative news about Churchill is reported with Tonto's name. Almost every criminal caught in the North or in the South South is not said to be a suspected member of Boko Haram or Amotekun, and neither Boko Haram nor Amotekun will be in the news caption. But almost every suspect or criminal caught in the South East is accused of being a member of IPOB, and IPOB will be in the news caption. And haters quickly believe the claims against the South East without asking necessary questions.

That puts him in bad light still because after Mr Adelou joined the firm, the company once reliable enough to secure government contract suddenly can't meet up it with it obligations.

Why is the company abadoning a project after he joined ? It raises questions of competence as anyone can attempt to draw a causal relationship between these two events though unaware of his responsibilites in the company.

Sometimes a project cost can be stalled due to rise in cost of materials that can lead to millions of naira. The reporter of the previous news did a damage work to his name on purpose because at the end of the story, the amount he stated that was paid is almost the same as the work done.
The reporter can be sued for damages, but he was smart enough to end the story with the fact that the company has committed no offence until the court says so
