KarlTom: There are various factors that big multinationals consider, including the return on investment, the long term prospects, environmental issues, corruption, and prospects in other countries or regions. The $783m that ENI collected from Oando may be used to develop a fresh or bigger investment in other countries that would yield bigger returns to ENI in a more peaceful and politically stable environment. 2 Likes |

ositadima1: There are somethings we won't know why they sold for that price. They are divesting, it's difficult operating onshore, then I suspect opl 245, check the latest news on that. |

megawealth01: You are in a jolly good mood, pulling the legs of the Oando gang! Be careful! Remember, the APC crowd are waiting at the door for all the antagonists of Oando on this forum! |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 4:05pm On Aug 30 |
Oando traded 93.8m shares worth N6.8b. Clearly institutional buyers at play. Probably Wale himself was buying. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by robobo: 4:08pm On Aug 30 |
KarlTom: You dont need to go too far. check the notes to the last FY report published by oando and you would see that oando and naoc were already in arbitration for a judgement debt of over >$200m which is heavily tilted in favour of oando (such that naoc had to quickly get an appeal against enforcement) the Oando-Naoc deal is subsequent to that judgement. the deal was to be settled net of the judgement debt (this is also in the notes in the same financial report). 5 Likes |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by robobo: 4:17pm On Aug 30 |
Raider76: hmmmmm Jite (Notore) that used to be the 3rd leg of the famous Ocean and Oil three musketeers just collected (within last 2-3 weeks) $150m for sell of 60% stake in Notore with management of Notore also relinquished in that sale. could he be teaming up back with the remaining two musketeers? hmmm $150m = N225b |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 4:22pm On Aug 30 |
robobo: Does that mean that Oando would have paid cash of about $583m for the ENI deal? |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by robobo: 4:32pm On Aug 30 |
mikeapollo: i mean real price / value could have been $900-$1b and the 783 paid was net of the pending judgement debt of >$200m. $900-$1b looks more near to real price/ value if you consider what other oil major divestment figures were (including oando/ conoco) |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 4:35pm On Aug 30 |
The bolded was not explicitly stated but they indicated that NAOC (and a few others) was having an impact on the Group's Financials mainly because their partners AND NNPC were owing / not fulfilling their part of the agreement. Some other reasons for their exit were also stated (see attached SC)... May I also add that IOCs pay attention to work place ethics and working conditions. They are compelled to pay premium insurance to get their staff to work in highly volatile areas/countries. ositadima1: 1 Like

ositadima1: I guess most of them are selling because of reducing margins and the increasing peculiar challenges of Nigerian onshore operations. Local operators have reduced cost of operations with lower wages and far fewer expatriates. And are devising various means round the operational challenges. 1 Like |

KarlTom: When it comes to work ethics and conditions, Agip is the worst of them all. I once worked at the Ebocha Oil Center, one of their storage, preprocessing, and distribution fields, and I know what I witnessed there. Oando has been collaborating with Agip for quite some time—I remember seeing them during my time there. Most of the operations were already being run by Nigerians. I believe they had a few Italians at their gas plant in Omoku. But do you really think the issues of insecurity, volatility, and asset theft will disappear once Oando fully takes charge? 1 Like |

What is small for IOC, is not small for indigenous companies. IOC's that are producing millions of barrels per day will not care about a marginal field, but local companies producing in the thousands will jump at it megawealth01: |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by BabsO2(m): 4:47pm On Aug 30 |
mikeapollo: Long term Oando should be looking at N177 assuming SEPLAT price remain flat long term ay N3730. Looking at number of shares, SEPLAT has 588 million shares while OANDO 12,431 million shares. That is for every 1 SEPLAT share there are 21 Oando shares. If one assumes they are roughly the same in Assets since they both had total assets of N3T in their 2023 financials. And assuming shareholders start benefitting at par from Assets in both companies. Oando price can be estimated to be SEPLAT share price divided by 21 based on these simple numbers & assumptions. At todays SEPLAT price of N3730 Oando's bench price goal is approximately N177 1 Like |

Sorry about your experience. You'll agree that palms will be oiled to overlook these laws when it concerns locals compared to expatriates It is easier and cheaper to negotiate with Nigerians than with expatriates... PS: Alhaji M.A. Dokubo is a 'friend' of the government ositadima1: |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 4:53pm On Aug 30 |
BabsO2: Yes, that is what gives superior returns and higher value to shareholders of Seplat. My comparison is not based on the bottom line, but the top lines e.g. oil reserves, barrels of oil produced, turnover, number of OML/OPL etc. In terms of bottom line, Seplat has been more profitable, has fewer number of shares, pays dividend consistently and has a more stable management. 1 Like |

ositadima1:Those challenges will not disappear once Oando takes charge. But at least, we Nigerians understand ourselves better than the white man understands us. There are issues that we Nigerians can discuss and resolve faster under the tree or inside a small office in the nearby local government office or palace than a white man that is waiting for instructions from Rome or France |

KarlTom: Imagine you’re on your way to work and see thick smoke in the distance. As you approach your worksite, you discover it’s on fire—a large storage tank burning due to poor safety practices. Agip is the worst when it comes to safety, and I’ve heard it got bad after Nigerians took over most of the top positions. 1 Like
