I thought transfer market is all over

You missed where he said that Osimhen's management have four months to get a club for him. That is because the summer window is over but the winter window opens in four months time.

🔵👀 Maresca on striker not joining in the final days: “We want players, but we wanted a player that we decide it has to be on our conditions. If a player is not here then it was not”.

“New striker in January? We will see”.

Why did Victor Osimhen renew his contract

I've seen many people say Victor made a mistake renewing his contract with Napoli. While I understand the stance, I don't think it is correct cause it lacks context. I'll try to do a timeline of events leading to the contract extension and why I think Victor renewed his contract. Before I do, it's important to note that doing business with Napoli and ADL has historically been very difficult. Because of this most clubs will rather look elsewhere than deal with him. The only leverage you can have as a player going to Napoli is to include an exit clause before singing, but Victor obviously couldn't do that at the time he signed for them. Kim min Jae for instance was able to leave easily because he had an exit clause in his contract.

Summer of 2023

After winning the Seria A, Napoli received numerous offers from clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia to sign Victor, ADL put a €200M price tag on Victor and was reported to say "only PSG could afford to buy him". One thing was clear, ADL's hope was for Victor to spend at least one more year in Naples before considering any offer for him.

Immediately the season ended, Napoli was working on extending Victor's contract because he had just 2 years left on his contract and he was expected to leave 2024, meaning he'll have just one year left on his contract which puts Napoli in a bad negotiating position as clubs usually aren't willing to pay overboard for a player with one year left on his contract.

Beginning of the season

The season begins, and Napoli were still trying to convince Victor to sign a contract extension. It was obvious he wasn't willing to. Then in September of 2023 internal battles began. The Tiktok drama started and it trended worldwide. Victor's agent threatened to sue, Victor removed everything Napoli related from his socials. While I openly disagreed with some of the decisions Victor took at the time, I wasn't oblivious to what was happening. This was a micro aggressive tactic by Napoli for get Victor to sign an extension. Many things were happening behind the scenes to get that outcome. Then in December 2023, Victor signed an extension for one more year.

Why did Victor sign an extension

1. Gratitude: this isn't new really as many players do this even when they know they would leave. For a club like Napoli where he's spent 4 years and Naples that had become home, signing a new contract to give them leverage to negotiate a better deal while also including a salary increase and a release clause to somewhat protect himself wasn't a bad idea on paper.

2. Many things were happening behind the scenes in Naples to get Victor to sign an extension. The club were visibly becoming hostile and fans were being manipulated to turn on him. The Tiktok scandal amongst other things and Victor and his agent's reaction didn't happen by mistake.

The Mbappe Parallel

Someone tried to draw a parallel with Mbappe to make a ridiculous point not knowing Mbappe did exactly the same thing Victor did but being a french player and of course a bigger player he could get away with somethings Victor could.

In 2022, Mbappe was a free agent and there were reports he would move to Spain for free being a free agent. The PSG ownership however prevailed on him and even used the President of France to persuade Kilian so sign a contract extension. Mbappe signed an extension and he was given a wage that made him the highest earning player in Europe. Mbappe signed a 2+1 year contract with 2 years guaranteed and a one year possible extension. He however had promised the owner of PSG he wasn't going to leave PSG for free. But Mbappe had other plans and informed PSG months to the end of his contract he wasn't signing an extension. He in literal sense played on their intelligence to have his way. He could do that because he was a King in France and quite frankly didn't need to worry about his safety amongst other things. Not even the constant ranting of the Qatari Billionaire could change his mind. Victor obviously couldn't do this.

I hope Victor Osimhen’s agent gets to work immediately
They have 4 months to get a new club
Contact Edu
Arsenal FC should be the best place for Osimhen
£200k per week wages minimum
Seal this deal
Gooners need to win the Premier League
Forget Chelsea, he will play his best football at Arsenal. He’s what they need to seal the league
Else they’d keep playing 2nd fiddle to Man City forever

He should fire his agent and get a respectable agent imo

Let's be watching. Osimhen will find a fantastic home soon. He should follow his instincts and be patient.

Just the same way you predicted the midfield maestro the solution to the problems in the SE Nwakali wil be in a big club.

Midfield maestro , finally got on to the bench of Barnsley in the 4th game of the season but is yet to play a game in the league.

Why are you in a haste? Have you for a second researched Barnsley, know their playing style etc. anyone who made a false prediction was you saying a League One club will not sign Kelechi Nwakali.

kellycute na only you and few others understand wetin dey go on here. Osimhen knows his worth, even just the fact that Chelsea mentioned loan + obligation to buy, people wey lack knowledge don dey mock say African Best dey go on loan to Chelsea.

Osimhen is a hard worker, has a very strong mentality. This is not the first time he'll not be playing football for months (he even has national team matches this time), when he had his head injury, he was out for almost a year, he came back stronger and better! The most interesting thing is that he still scores most goals with that same head! Someone that has 18 metal screws and 6 wooden plaques fitted into his head, PTSD see Osimhen, PTSD run! A lot of players will dwindle in performance after an injury as big as that!
With a mask his outscored every single African to ever play in the Serie A, broke records and set new ones!

Osimhen is a humble person with hot temper that doesn't even surface till he's being pushed till the extreme end, he can also be positively stubborn, he won't settle for less! That's why he neither chose Saudi nor €155k/week. He knows himself, he knows what he wants.

Osimhen is not Højlund or Jackson that you'll force to take a salary inferior to his ability. If he collect am una go talk, as he no collect am una still dey talk.

I've read a lot about Osimhen, studied Osimhen and watched every single video on YouTube about him that I always feel like I know what's going through his head. Y'all should just wait and see how he scales this hurdle. I can tell y'all he's not as bothered as y'all are, una just wan type for typing sakes.

Lastly and most importantly, Osimhen did not go through those hard times at Wolfsburg, defeating a potential career ending injury at Napoli, becoming a world-class striker against all odds, just to come and take a paycut for a Chelsea that don't even know their standing as of today.

If that injury didn't end his career, na 4 months of not playing football wan end am? 😂 We'll all be there by God's grace.

Maka just continue dey ignore some comments dey go.
nicely put💯,

Most of the comments here are just way too funny .. with the mentality of osimhen na 4 month of inactivity go make am end him carrier?? LMAO

Truth is bitter but must be said. Osimhen has everything to lose not Napoli. Non-playing of competitive football for 6 months would definitely affect his fitness. Infact he does not deserve a callup to Eagles until he sorts out himself, if we are being fair and really wanna maintain the consistency on this board.

Osimhen should have accepted the paycut and join Chelsea. Enzo called to convince him. He assured him of starting spot, thus should have accepted the deal, shame Napoli by banging goals here and there and bigger clubs will come for him in the next summer.

I don't want him accept Saudi deal coz he is still young for that, and no sacrifice is too big to progress one's career. Mbappe humbled himself by playing one more season with PSG and eventually joins his dreamt club.

Osimhen should have made it cool, humble himself to get what he desires - leaving Napoli this summer. Napoli is all for blood now. They are ready to derail Osimhen's career until he himbled himself.
mbappe did what?? 🤣🤣🤣 Abeg abeg make person here word jare.
