ABEOKUTA – As Dangote oil refinery begins supply of 25 million litres of petrol to the Nigerian market daily, a chieftain of PDP in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Showunmi has appealed to Alhaji Aliko Dangote to be moderate in the price of his PMS.
Recall that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) had disclosed on Tuesday that the 25milllion litres supply will rise to 30 million litres from October.

The NMDPRA said it met with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to agree on local crude supply to the refinery.

The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, formally announced that the 650,000-capacity oil refinery in Lagos has commenced petrol production.

In a live broadcast on Tuesday, Dangote said the supply of petrol into Nigeria would change the country’s energy landscape.

But the PDP Chieftain, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Tuesday commended Aliko Dangote for redeeming Nigeria’s pride as black nation and contributing value to Nigeria economy with the coming on stream of the PMS from Dangote refinery.

Showunmi noted that, Nigerians have bored heavy burden of fuel hike for so long from NNPC and other major marketers, urging Dangote to take the masses into consideration.

He urged Dangote to consider nationalism, patriotism and empathy above profit.

He said, “Thank you, for on this day you redeemed our pride as black people, as humans capable of contributing value and engaging in the activities that others do. With the coming on stream of the PMS from your Dangote Refinery.

“A grateful nation thanks you.
As a pan-Nigerian Patriot, I thank you from the depth of my soul for the shame had gone on for too long.

“You must try as much as possible to be moderate in your pricing for our people have bored such a heavy burden for so long, I get sustainable pricing but ensure that the markup takes into consideration our people.

“You come from a long-standing historical business family from the great Alhassan your great-grandfather to Sanusi your grandfather to your beloved father Mohammed Dangote, not leaving out your supportive mother Hajia Mariya, whose stories of charity and zakat I was told way back in 1998/1999 by locals in Kano.
“Profit is good but nationalism, patriotism and empathy must be your guide.

“Oh, Our Creator bless and preserve Dangote Refinery, The Workers, and all that have dealings with it. Let this effort be preserved, let it grow from strength to strength. As you have preserved Rockefeller does preserve and sustain Aliko Dangote for generations.

“Now let the giant called Nigeria awake, stand up, and take its rightful place in the comity of nations.”

Story for the gods

Dangote does business strictly for excessive profits. Cement price is an example.

Any smart person reading the news of NNPC increasing their pump price and at the same time dangote announcing the commencement of Petrol production and distribution will know its not a coincidence

Dangote is a very greedy business man, I hope he carries his wealth along when he leaves the earth

Meanwhile it's a thing of joy that finally petrol will be locally reduced. Let's hope it will have some positive effect on forex exchange.

But one thing I can vouch for is that he won't sell below 800 naira. Let's rather beg nnpc to start up their refinery

ENCOUNTER
Segun Showunmi is not making sense at all. I'm sure Dangote won't listen to his senseless talk.

Unfortunately, Dangote Group is not a charity organisation.

Market forces & considerations will determine pricing.

I hope he asks every Nigerian business person, freelancer, self-employed people...too to be moderate in their prices.

Infact, let's have the government make traders sell rice at N40 a 50kg bag, N70 for a `100 KG rice bag, N10 for a loaf of bread, regardless of size, and N200 for a laptop,,,.....so that the poor can breathe.

Honestly, if you want Nigerians to abuse you, just tell them that in the real world, things must be sold at a profit.

It is that selling fuel at a moderate price that is a big reason why we lost 4 refineries, and why Venezuela went from a refinery refining 900000 bpd to 100000 barrels per day.

Things cost money.

This is madness. There is no other words to describe it..

How can we have a country where the highest currency denomination cannot buy a litre of fuel..

If this isn't madness, I don't know what else is?!!🤔

Well, Congratulations Nigerian.. if you are reading this, you have survived the SHEGE stage.

Welcome to SHEGE BANZA stage..

The SHEGE DAMBURUBA is still at the front.

If crude is supplied to him in Naira that means:

1. Sourcing for FCY and exchange rate pressure is off his neck.
2. International shipping fee is off.
3. Customs fees, etc. is off.

Why can't he then sell below international price?

The world will soon see Dangote for who he truly is.

1) what do you mean exchange rate pressure.. He is paying equivalent and selling in naira

2) shipping cost is very very small in the petroleum business very very small less than 0.5% the price

3) there is already no custom duty on imported petrol

Because at the end, pricing something in naira does not mean the price goes down.

He also has loans to pay, salaries to pay (at international level, because that refinery is competing with international refineries...not just local) and taxes, yes taxes, upgrades, expansion, etc.

Plus all those refineries we were importing from were substandard refineries. Their local governments were on their neck to close down, which is why Dangote refinery is so important to Nigeria.

If you want high grade fuel, you better let Dangote sell fuel at a profit. If you want NNPC refineries crash part 2, make he sell fuel at N200 or less per liter....you go see same old story.

These are questions begging for answers ....
Nigeria is the definition of a real problem...
The only good news here is the fact that petrol and its related products will no longer be imported

there is no international price for petrol, there is only a price range for crude and since he his buying it in naira and not in dollars . That is a big difference
