This is called "close marking" (in a local English).
Since they failed in frustrating the DR, and the probable end to their free money on importation and the associated "subsidy", they are giving DR "close marking" and they want to keep Nigeria in captivity by force.

I just pity Alhaji Aliko Dangote. He would have built the refinery in another country, if he knew.

Is either the bring in another "entagling support/subsidy" and force DR to comply or that refinery collapse like their own. All the recent drama is for that to happen. They want the price to be as high as anything before DR begins rolling out of PMS. So that they can tell bullaba that they new crude to offset some cost.

I don't see Alhaji Dangote being able to achieve one of his aims (driving down cost; both direct and indirect). He just have to play along; he doesn't have choice. That investment is huge.

Note,
Before you accusing Dangote of monopoly or getting undue advantage from government, just imagine how much you would have been buying cement now, if he didn't open up that sector and if we are still importing. Remember how much PMS, Rice, etc were sold before he started producing cement. That will guide you to know how the price would have been

What is all this talk of NNPCL monopoly on buying from DR? What happened to our enlisted right-to-purchase coys?

If you are referring to the likes of Eterna, MRS, they are Official Domestic Sales Distributors of Dangote Petroleum Refinery Products in Nigeria.

I don't think any coy signed a right-to-purchase agreement with DR...

"Domestic Sales Distributors" does not include being on the queue?

If them buy direct, who go come subsidise the fuel?
NNPC will buy at 1,200 and sell to Nigerians at 850

Comment made purely from dividend point of view as at now. Dividend bull will push stanbic more than it will do zenith.

Stanbic #56: dividend #2
Zenith #38: dividend #1

That means to get #2 dividend in zenith, you need #72 but with stanbic you need #56 grin

My village man sense

Makes village sense to me as well, assuming the only goal is to hunt for dividend with the risk of facing a downward pricing markdown

There are many contractual terms involved in deals like this but let's just leave it like that... smiley

On the issue of 'being on the queue', let me paint a scenario: What IF DR signed similar 'distributorship' agreement with NNPC?

The fact that MRS. ETERNA et al are NOT tagged EXCLUSIVE or SOLE distributor leaves the door wide open wink

On second thought, I feel the NNPC distributor deal is a clause inserted in the crude-for-naira deal.
Let's wait and see how it relates to subsidy in due course

You really believe that to be one of his aim? A business man like Dangote would aim to control pricing like in other sector he is in. Not judging him though he is a businessman

One thing is certain, after commencement of full operations at DR our FX will improve significantly.

I honestly do not see FG/NNPC satisfying the crude oil needs of DR and he'll have to import more crude to meet demand/full capacity,

That means, at cheaper $-₦, the produce of the refinery will be cheaper ex-depot.

I think the bolded can be achieved on the mid- to long-term...

Can Nigerians really pay #1200+ for PMS per litre?

Naira devaluation made the "subsidy gone" statement a mere wish.

The government is in a fix.
Make it a free market and petrol will sell above N1000 close to the price of diesel or maintain a ceiling on price in which only NNPC can run that kind of business.
Nigeria is still subsidizing petrol.

According to NNPC, subsidy is gone, but they only sell fuel below the landing cost..
I wonder what that means.

that's why I just left the post on a cliff hanger like that

However I'll like to add that your point about those living abroad feeling the heat of the fvckerry going on in Nigeria is for real

I see how Nigerians here work extra extra and send loads of money to support financially ailing family members in Nigeria

you will see Caucasian earning 9k less than you per annum
but living a better quality of life that most of these diaspora Nigerians go never see

assuming we didn't have to carry that burden
think of how much better our lives will be

Truth has always been bitter since time immemorial grin

It was a poor judgement to fight subsidy and naira floating at the same time. One depends on the other.

Good Observation..
However, if you divide the stated figure ₦25,913,996,000 by the OS, you will get 2Naira.
I think the figures can't be a mistake..

Probably used to their previous default template I think.

Good Afternoon All. Please I've decided to open a 2nd STB account with Morgan capital. Already filled out the form and provided the necessary documents. But I want to confirm some things.

1. Can I fund my account via their app and withdraw same without needing to send mails for my mandates to be executed or I'd have to credit their bank account for my trading account to be credited manually?

2. The Brokerage commission, which is the major incentive for my opening an account with them, is it still 50 bps (I was told it was 50bps last year when I made my enquiries)?

3. Will using the same CHN on my first account help with consolidation should I decide to buy shares of one company in both accounts? Especially for dividend purposes?

4. Do they offer margin facilities?

I'd really appreciate responses to the above. @yMyc56 abeg help me

I approve of this because at least we can somehow start tracking our NAIJA fuel consumptions which nnpc can't give proper records

I still cannot see how a fully functional dangote refinery will improve our fx significantly.

The major reason I support Alhaji on this is that we can track productions...

Nnpc should do better being a publicly quoted company than what it is today

How I wish we can get rid of NNPC totally in this matter. Let them just wait for the reward of their 7.5% stake
