Nigerian Police Charge Whistleblower Isaac Bristol 'pidomnigeria' With 9 Counts by adamusuleiman3: 5:14pm On Sep 03 |
The Nigeria Police Force has initiated formal legal proceedings against Isaac Bristol, whom the police have identified as PIDOMNigeria, a prominent whistleblower who has garnered significant attention on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The authorities have levied a nine-count charge against Mr. Bristol, alleging that he illegally mobilised support from Nigerian citizens to participate in the recent nationwide hunger protests.
These protests, tagged #EndBadGovernance, were held to bring attention to the pervasive issues plaguing the nation and advocate for systemic change.
SaharaReporters obtained a copy of the court document outlining the nine counts on Monday, shedding light on the specifics of the allegations levelled against Mr. Bristol.
This development marks a significant escalation in the government's response to the recent 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests and PIDOMNigeria's role in shaping public discourse.
The suit marked FHC/ABJ/CR/456/2024 and filed on September 2, 2024, at the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division is between the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun as the Complaint and Bristol Isaac Tamunobifiri as the Defendant.
The charges were filed by Simon Lough (SAN), who led a team of police lawyers on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Egbetokun.
Other offences Bristol was accused of include allegations that he transmitted a classified document of the Federal Government of Nigeria, concealing money received through cryptocurrency and destroying his mobile phone - Techno Phantom X 2021 model and attempting to flush same down the toilet of the hotel where he was arrested with the intention of preventing it from being used as evidence against him.

RealityKings: Dude was the one who brought the issue about the Oni of Ife... That was a mistake He has also been detained in Kuje according to The Punch. Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has ordered the remand of whistleblower, Isaac Bristol Tamunobifiri, also known as PIDOM, in Kuje correctional facility.
PIDOM was arraigned on Tuesday, on a nine-count charge brought against him by the Inspector General of Police, on alleged money laundering, cybercrime, and unlawfully obtaining, retaining and disseminating classified secret documents.
PIDOM, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges levelled against him.
After taking his plea, the defendant’s counsel, Deji Adeyanju, applied for bail which was objected to by the prosecution’s counsel.
After listening to the submissions of the lawyers in the suit, Justice Nwite adjourned till September 23, to rule on the bail application of the defendant while ordering that he be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre.
In a charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/456/2024, PIDOM was accused of mobilising and soliciting support to unduly compel the government to act or abstain from certain acts through the #EndBadGovernance protest, false money-laundering allegations against President Bola Tinubu and unlawfully obtaining, retaining and disseminating classified secret documents in contravention of the official Secret Act 1962.
In the money laundering allegations brought against him, the police claimed that the funds PIDOM obtained were derived from unlawful activities.
The ninth charge on the court document accused PIDOM of tampering with evidence by destroying his Techno Phantom X phone and attempting to flush it down the water system of the hotel where he was arrested. https://punchng.com/court-remands-whistleblower-pidom-in-prison-for-money-laundering-others/ 2 Likes |

Let the law takes its course. Recently, people commit atrocities and start blackmailing the government from taking action. Even people who rioted and looted public properties are being called protesters and Amnesty International and sundry rascals are insisting they must be released. Meanwhile, many people have been jailed in the UK for rioting, social media incendiary posts and arson. No one in the UK condemned the government. Below is a comment I shared on PIDOM some days back: emkz: Initially, I followed PIDOM. Then:
(1) He accused a first-class king of fraudulent activities and published whatsapp chats between the king and one lady. Did he ever reach out to the king to ask for his own side of the story? Perhaps he did, or did not. But he rushed to publish and was issuing threats. You have no right to release someone's chats to the public as a third-party. It is illegal. Then making accusations on that scale? Haba!
(2) He released an accusation that the son of Babagana Zulum murdered someone and was beating his chest that it was true. If it was a lie, defamation on that scale is criminal. What does the law say?
(3) During the protest, he called for 2 million Nigerians to take over Aso Rock. While he was doing this, Omoyele Sowore who was motivating them was away in the US. The call falls within the domain of a call for an insurrection and anarchy.
(4) In one of his posts, he called for the military to take over government. When I analyzed the demands of the protesters, I correctly identified that some of those requests bordered on regime change. Some armchair analysts said I was lying. Didn't some misguided people call for regime change within three days of my interpretation of their demands?
In this administration, those against the government are saying the government must free criminals, irrespective of the crimes they committed. Even when the NLC president was invited to come and explain his links with the dude associated with alleged terrorism financing who occupied the 2nd floor of the NLC building, some Nigerians started abusing the police and accusing them of witchhunt. They said they could not kill terrorists or arrest Yahaya Bello or find the kidnapped 20 medical students. They excuse one bad behaviour for the other. They don't know that terrorists are being killed daily and our gallants security forces are also killed daily, as they try to keep us safe. They have no empathy. They feel everything is witchhunt.
For those who abuse the police and army daily, let us imagine a social experiment, where the police and army are withdrawn for three days and people are given a free run to do anything they like, commit any crime they want without punishment!
How many of you will come out of your house and not live in fear for those three days? 9 Likes 1 Share |

Beremx: I hope so. Because all those allegations against him are baseless They are not baseless. Why do you think they are making Julius Assange go through all the stress? It was because he leaked confidential( classified) information. Some of the count on there accuse the guy of leaking classified information, that alone is enough to deal with him if they truly want to. Imagine a scenario that police transmit “a notice of attack by terrorists” to their respective formation. They someone leaking the document to the press, affected their operation, and inturn make the terrorists detour, attack another area and murderrr countless people. PIDOM just tweet anything like a kid, he has no limit to the nonsense he can tweet just to make it look like he’s doing something. 12 Likes 1 Share |
