NNPC to be sole buyer of 25million to 30million liters of petrol per day then resell to the marketers/depots. NNPC are thieves , they will just continue their subsidy scam.

Firstly, I think we need to know how much Dangote is selling his own fuel to NNPC... Then we can now determine how much NNPCL is adding to it as their own margin/profit.

Another thing that may help (not too sure) is if Dangote decides to go into downstream business of having his own petrol stations...
NNPC won't allow that!
I think the agreement here was dangote allow NNPC determine price so they can continue with their manipulations. Nigerians are in for a long ride.

This is why I told you that you have been left behind, others have move on.

If you know anybody living along the Eleko axis you should talk to them, NNPCL petrol tankers are presently trooping in and out of Dangote refinery like this loading petrol.

That argument doesn't stand. Yes, we know Nigerian civil servants are grossly corrupt and they can buy cheap and use this opportunity to sell but NNPC can still tell you that they are selling old stocks and just keeping Dangote's PMS still they hear the final order.

We don't have to rush things and quickly accept defeat. With all this lies, they are already pushing that price on Nigerians and you guys supporting are already suppressing the movement.

You guys should stop supporting them. Let's hear from the horses mouth. Politicians are all watching and when they see such baseless arguments, they are always happy.

No problem if that is what you believed. Good luck

The Dangote's refinery would help in stabilizing the fuel price in the country. The more competition, the better for the consumers

Competition from who?

Nigerians please pay attention to real market data.

The price of petrol declined significantly on the world market since yesterday by around 6%, ending at $0.5 per liter.

https://www.investing.com/commodities/gasoline-rbob

I did the calculations based on $1 = 1600₦ and arrived at a price of ~ ₦800 per liter. This is the world price of petrol right now.

What this means is that NNPC price of ₦897 contains a TAX or profit of ₦100.

I believe if Dangote is allowed to sell on an open market to ANY petrol marketer he wishes, the price will be significantly below this official price. It's WRONG for NNPC to become a MONOPOLY buyer of petrol from domestic refineries. The reason for this market closure is clear - NNPC can't compete against private companies, just like NTA can't compete against private broadcasters.

Open the market. Pass legislation and TAX fuel sales, be transparent. Sales tax like this is a good thing, there's no need to lie about it.

Good Luck to Nigerians.

$0.52 per liter is the cost price. Every player in the chain from traders to gas stations will add their margin.

Opening the market is the endgame. But there has to be some stability at the outset.
Let's watch how the NNPCL - Dangote tango plays out for at least two quarters.

How much do you think Dangote will sell directly to independent marketers if NNPC is not involved in the process?

I agree we should demand for more accountability and transparency from NNPC but if the figure in the public is anything to go by, Dangote can’t sell below something around N1200. The current price of diesel should give you guys an idea of what the cost of PMS should be without NNPC stepping in to do under recovery (subsidy).

Then tell us hoohaa that subsidy is not removed.

It can never be above 1000 naira bro. The difference between NNPC and othwr stations can't be more than 100 bros. Go and check statistics from onset

If nnpc selling 895, then the average price across other stations must be above 1000 for sure.

Base on the price of Diesel and kerosene, the NNPCL is still subsidizing on behalf of Nigerians. Few weeks ago, marketers claim the landing cost of petrol to Nigeria is close to 1200/litre

If only Dangote can sell directly to marketers then come out publicly to tell us the price he sells to them then we will enjoy, but that can't never happen in nigeria because most directors in NNPC are making millions of naira monthly from fuel. The corruption in NNPC is more than any sector in Nigeria. Emir Sanusi once tackle NNPC as CBN governor and told President GEJ about the issue. Sanusi was removed because GEJ knew about the corruption going on there which was above his power. My brother, as long as NNPC still determine or control fuel price, we are in a long deep problem. If only Yar'adua can come back to life then we will have a better government.
Acjohn:
NNPCL couldn't solve Nigeria problem, why should they be allowed to sell to Nigeria?

They said no subsidy again, why do we need them deciding price?

They failed, they should be allowed to go.

I am surprised that guy man floated Naira and can't float fuel

The only reason NNPC wants to be the sole buyer is to ensure that subsidy is in place. This will ensure that the inflated number of consumed fuel is kept in place

In a free and open market, petrol in Nigeria will be sold for less than ₦897. This is common sense because the retailers will compete on precisely the margins you referred to. Petrol is a commodity with some of the SMALLEST retail margins in the world.

The government should be plain about what it is doing RIGHT NOW...the government has placed a TAX on petrol sales to the Nigerian people. There's NOTHING wrong with that!

What is totally immoral and undemocratic is to impose a MONOPOLY on the market. It has nothing to do with stability. You know this.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

A toks car will work perfectly for 3months if its driven everyday,if its driven 3 times a week,it would work well for good 5 months. After that, your engine starts shorting oil,the ac will pack up,from there the 02 sensors will start its wahala after finishing with that, the spark plugs will spoil,follow3d by your injectors, then the fuel pump will damage. By then, the car is no more toks standard, cause it will have taken in a lot of naija dead parts and useless rewires with mechanics .....what's the major cause of all this problem. Prolonged usage of adulterated gas, oil, parts. Naija is dead
