The crude dangote is using is imported

So why is nnpc determining his price? Why can't other marketers buy directly from dangote?

I am black and I am not a socialist abeg. I don't even know any Igbo who is a socialist.

Socialists favor the imposition of unnatural conditions on human collectives. Socialists love publicly owned commerce and forced racial or tribal diversity and also single parent homes.

The Igbo in 1957 insisted on Perpetual Unity of the unnatural collection of major tribes called Nigeria, against the proposals of the other major tribes that wanted a right to secession. Actions matter, not words.

Good Luck to Nigerians.

Nigerians please pay attention to real market data.

The price of petrol declined significantly on the world market since yesterday by around 6%, ending at $0.5 per liter.

https://www.investing.com/commodities/gasoline-rbob

I did the calculations based on $1 = 1600₦ and arrived at a price of ~ ₦800 per liter. This is the world price of petrol right now.

What this means is that NNPC price of ₦897 contains a TAX or profit of ₦100.

I believe if Dangote is allowed to sell on an open market to ANY petrol marketer he wishes, the price will be significantly below this official price. It's WRONG for NNPC to become a MONOPOLY buyer of petrol from domestic refineries. The reason for this market closure is clear - NNPC can't compete against private companies, just like NTA can't compete against private broadcasters.

Open the market. Pass legislation and TAX fuel sales, be transparent. Sales tax like this is a good thing, there's no need to lie about it.

Good Luck to Nigerians.

Check if you are talking about crude or refined fuel. If it's crude, then your calculations are wrong. Even if it's refined, have you factored in the transport costs? Not siding with government or NNPC but just asking you to double-check so that your analyzes are not trashed.

There are many Igbos who supported Buhari in 2015. Anyone who did is a socialist. I have read Igbos state that the government should operate refineries. As much as it's believed that Igbos are naturally greedy (as if humans are altruistic), there are Igbos who support socialism. You need to monitor their actions.

I stated it was refined petrol. I supplied a link. Easy to click and read.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

How much do you think Dangote will sell directly to independent marketers if NNPC is not involved in the process?

I agree we should demand for more accountability and transparency from NNPC but if the figure in the public is anything to go by, Dangote can’t sell below something around N1200. The current price of diesel should give you guys an idea of what the cost of PMS should be without NNPC stepping in to do under recovery (subsidy).

I feel like pinching your brain. You obviously dont know what’s going on. They should allow him sell his fuel. People that are trying so hard to cover up their atrocities and you are here capping rubbish.

Evil can never expire in Nigeria because Nigerians will always justify evil.

The usual Nigerian excuse for socialist impulses. The same way they accused MTN, Arik and Dangote Cement of being monopolies. The hatred of private profit without government control has become religion in Nigeria.

Some months ago there was a scarcity of maize and the Nigerian government responded by granting THREE or FOUR companies the exclusive license to import. And of course those who see government as agents of STABILITY cheered while poultry farmers cried.

If Nigerians can't learn from THE CLEAR EXPERIENCES of the last 25 years, they deserve all the suffering that comes their way.

The Black Man is a natural socialist and will continue to get socialist results.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

I'm not sure why you'd bring up socialism when other verticals in the Nigerian O&G industry are deregulated.
Gasoline is a peculiar sector in Nigeria and the primary source of energy.
The installed capacity of gasoline generators in Nigeria exceeds 40,000MW.

I'm not saying the NNPCL should be a permanent monopolist.
I'm saying they should manage the rollout and the gasoline market will be opened up when we've settled in.
That is a reasonable approach and one that capitalist countries and firms adopt all the time to control outcomes.

Capitalism at its peak why must it be at this price when no landing and transportation costs across oceans? It seems the sudden increase in fuel prices is to accommodate the current dangote pricing ! The good thing is you cannot live past 100years give or take whatever your plan so it and finish it will all come to pass

The Dangote's refinery would help in stabilizing the fuel price in the country. The more competition, the better for the consumers

What competition when NNPC has imposed itself as the sole buyer?

It shows corruption in government in Nigeria has come to stay, only an incorruptible leader will completely disband, sack and sell NNPC,truly it is the CASH COW of any government in place,
for NNPC to be the sole buyer from Dangote refinery and sell to the public shows they want the subsidy scam to continue.
no wonder all top NNPC management haven't been sacked, ONLY A VERY PATRIOTIC AND A LEADER WITH VERY GOOD INTENT will scrap NNPC and sell it off completely

Do you really know what you’re typing or you’re still typing out of your ceaseless hatred of the current government?

The decision to buy in bulk from Dangote enables everyone to hold the government responsible. It also helps solve a lot logistical challenges for Dangote Industries itself. In that way, arrangements for futures can be made and energy security can be guaranteed.

This is a win-win-win for The Federal Government, Dangote and the masses.

The impact on the economy is another bit. Within weeks, the impact on the foreign exchange rate and balance of payments will begin to show.

What more, just wait as some smart Nigerians find a way to create some form of business related to that Refinery’s fuel supply, just like those who used to sell recharge cards in those days.

All those who truly love Nigeria and not just commenting here because some secessionist groups have bought them laptops & given them free data, will thank God that we are finally marching forward as a nation.

Complete nonsense, don't feed me the bullshit the government had been using to fool the mumu mugus like,a government who cannot run it's own refinery and is into importations of the crude it sells and cannot refine in the country now want to control a products an individual built with his own resources?what nonsense, does the government contribute a kobo into the refinery?
The reason is to continue their subsidy scam,by this they will tell Nigerians if the are to allow all players to buy they will pay above a thousand naira but because they are the sole buyer and distributor they subsidized by paying less than a thousand naira,
So that the hidden subsidy scam continues
