It is understandable, given the peculiarity of the black South African situation.

Unlike every other black African country, black South Africans, estimated at 40M, only control 10% of their land. In contrast, the white South Africans control 72%, a mixed-race group reressed to as the Coloureds, control about 12% while Indians control about 6% of land. And every economist will tell you that land is the highest asset of any person/people.

Having been so relegated to the background in their home continent, the presence of other blacks competing for opportunities is unbearable to them. They are already a people on the edge. It's a combination of anger and embarrassment that has turned into xenophobic "crackheads".

It's a sad place to be in.
