Petrol Price Hike Will Worsen Inflation - Punch Editorial by Bobloco: 2:31am On Sep 07 |
TUESDAY’S petrol price shock has heightened fears of further increases in inflation numbers. This is bound to inflict more pain on citizens and businesses. The NNPC Ltd. raised pump prices to N855 and N897 per litre up from N617/l a few days after the national oil company admitted it was in dire financial straits. Independent marketers adjusted their prices to between N930 and N1,200/l. https://punchng.com/petrol-price-hike-will-worsen-inflation/ 5 Likes 1 Share

They now calling it a hike and not subsidy removal! Do you wonder why? Because Nigeria has never subsidized fuel and the lie and scam is to call massive fuel hikes subsidy removal as it is more paletable lie to justify the massive hike or essentially fuel tax that there are no accountability about how the revenue accrues is spent. However they wise enough not to over-use the term "subsidy removal " before they prompt Nigerians to start think about what is really going on with the fuel prices and discovering the deception. 29 Likes 3 Shares |

worksmart: Nigeria is subsidisng fuel now.. The landing cost of fuel is close to N1200 per liter. Even with the recent hike, the government is still paying something close to N200 in subsides or more Without subsidy we would be paying something like N1300 or more per liter of fuel It also costs N720 to refine a liter of fuel as well. 43 Likes 3 Shares |

givedemwotowoto: I believe that APC should have been voted out this last election (and in fact, APC would have lost the election if not for the division in the opposition)...but if your preferred candidate won, the same thing would have played out. The problem is years of subsidising fuel have contributed to a massive debt problem for Nigeria. Keeping fuel below its production cost for years has meant years of deficit budgets and more deficit budgets.....meaning as at August 2022, we were spending 90% of our revenue on debt servicing. A graded removal of fuel subsidy as some were proposing would have still left us in more debt (and tinubu is doing the same thing). At the end, we should have removed subsidy in 2012. Even earlier. DeepSight: Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a warm welcome to the god of this world....who made the above comment. DeepsightX: I am indeed so blessed and honored that the god of this world has quoted me again using his alternate monicker. I am very happy. 48 Likes 1 Share |

The rate at which I'm seeing big people in public vehicles is becoming alarming these days. They're so use to their private cars that they deliberately refuse to adjust for passengers to sit comfortably. 14 Likes 1 Share |

The right step in the right direction. Tinubu is on the right track. We need to get behind our president, the people's president. Full removal of subsidy.... |

Yes but those people's votes were not enough to rig him in. In Lagos, out of 7million registered voters, less than 160,000 fools voted for Tinubu. Tell me which states voted for him? Is it Osun where his nephew was just removed? Or Kano where kwakwanso held sway? Tinubu didn't win the elections, Peter Obi won. mmadu4: 6 Likes |

nairalanda1: Bros Nigeria is not productive. Look at these keys issues: the palm oil we use to export was stopped, the ajokuta steel plant was never completed, the refineries stopped operation, and most importantly we do not generate enough electricity. If these four issues I mentioned are resolved Nigeria will be at a better place. We are our own problem stop talking about removing fuel subsidy other countries do pay subsidy. Taking off subsidy is like running away from your problems because you are too lazy to solve it. Even the gold and other minerals mined in the north do not reflect on our federal coffers. 7 Likes 1 Share |
