TINUBU IS NOT EVIL. HE IS NOT WICKED BUT HIS MINISTERS ARE MEDIOCRES AND SELFISH.

ALSO, TINUBU HASN'T FULLY ACCEPTED THE REALITY THAT THE GOVERNORS OF OUR 36 STATES OF THE FEDERATION ARE HIS "FIRST LINE FEDERAL MINISTERS".

you open your mouth waaa, just dey yarn. So it costs #720 to produce a litre of fuel under Buhari, yet he sold a litre at #160? Na wa for una oo

It costs N720 per liter to refine a liter of pms NOW...Not under buhari.

Under Buhari it was probably above N250-500. If not more atimes.

I believe that APC should have been voted out this last election (and in fact, APC would have lost the election if not for the division in the opposition)...but if your preferred candidate won, the same thing would have played out.

The problem is years of subsidising fuel have contributed to a massive debt problem for Nigeria. Keeping fuel below its production cost for years has meant years of deficit budgets and more deficit budgets.....meaning as at August 2022, we were spending 90% of our revenue on debt servicing.

A graded removal of fuel subsidy as some were proposing would have still left us in more debt (and tinubu is doing the same thing).

At the end, we should have removed subsidy in 2012. Even earlier.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a warm welcome to the god of this world....who made the above comment.

I am indeed so blessed and honored that the god of this world has quoted me again using his alternate monicker. I am very happy.

The recent price regime of petroleum products in the country is a huge embarrassment to us as an oil producing nation. If not, how can we possibly explain the crazy price hike in pump price of Petrol for instance at over N1,000 per litre?

Ok, let's do the simple math.. For a business owner who needs to run supplies and product delivery with his vehicle (Pure water or Eggs delivery will be a good example), where at least 30 liters of fuel is needed for a delivery routine in a day; are we saying this owner has to spend no less than N30k on fueling just to deliver products and expect them to sell the products at "affordable" rates?

And we have not even considered fueling costs for their Generator to keep the business up in a country where public utility power is practically never available. This is truly disturbing.

Nigeria is subsidisng fuel now..

The landing cost of fuel is close to N1200 per liter. Even with the recent hike, the government is still paying something close to N200 in subsides or more

Without subsidy we would be paying something like N1300 or more per liter of fuel

It also costs N720 to refine a liter of fuel as well.
You guys should stop all these rubbish lies. How did you arrive at the landing cost of N1200. What's the criteria? Now that they're buying from Dangote what's the criteria for fixing the price at N897.

IT IS A PRESIDENTIAL PREROGATIVE TO REGULATE THE ECONOMY FOR THE SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND POLICAL WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE. THEREFORE TINUBU MUST
TAG THE NAIRA AT AT LEAST N500 : $1 NOW AND
FIX PETROL AT N500 PER LITER..

THE SALE OF $20'000 TO BDS AT ABOUT N1600 : $1 SHOULD BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.

Well, in 2019.apc won with 19 million votes

In 2023 they got 8 million

Not only that, they lost key states in the North to pdp and nnpp.

If not that lp took votes form pdp in the south east and middle belt, atiku would have been president by now

They now calling it a hike and not subsidy removal!

Do you wonder why?

Because Nigeria has never subsidized fuel and the lie and scam is to call massive fuel hikes subsidy removal as it is more paletable lie to justify the massive hike or essentially fuel tax that there are no accountability about how the revenue accrues is spent.

However they wise enough not to over-use the term "subsidy removal " before they prompt Nigerians to start think about what is really going on with the fuel prices and discovering the deception.

Tinubu is still paying subsidy as it is right now..

He is paying more than Buhari ever did

Because he killed the Nigerian economy on the very first day he took oath of office

Dollar is now 1650 , more than twice the rate under Buhari

At the end of the day, like somebody said up there, if the current Nigerian situation doesn't cure your tribalism, Nothing else will.

Actually, it won't work because

1. The cost of production is not static.

2.It would involve border security of the kind that would cost us trillions to build and maintain

The main issue is smuggling....and smuggling happens in many countries with subsidised fuel...Saudi inclusive. If they can't solve it, I doubt we can.

The only way is to remove subsidy, and disincetivise smuggling and make it more profitable to refine at home instead of at Malta...
I was reading your argument objectively until I got here and I saw you spilling lies as usual. Why do you lie?

How did you arrive at trillions for border security if I may ask?

How is smuggling the main issue of subsidy cost? How many litres of petrol do you think it's realistically smuggled per day in Nigeria? Anyone with half brain knows smuggled fuel is insignificant when compared to our total consumption.

How will removal of subsidy discourage smuggling if we have local refining?

Once the landing cost and administrative charges are removed by local refining, fuel still will be cheaper in Nigeria than in most other west African countries even if subsidy is removed.

Dangote diesel which is sold at around N900 per litre factory price is cheaper than price of diesel in all our neighbouring countries.

I just wish to call your attention to the lie that subsidy removal will curb smuggling.

Peace ✌️

Because subsidy makes domestic refining unattractive, unless you are dangote with a collateral that banks can use to get back their money in case you default on the loans they give you for refinery here.

Right now, it would cost over N1000 to sell domestically refined fuel here. People want it to be sold at N200 or below. No one would be willing to refine fuel here

Plus keeping the cost of production low over the years by government to keep subsidy costs low is why we lost 4 refineries...and why refining capacity went from 400000 in the 1980's to 6000 barrels per day by 2019.

A refinery needs to make a profit to work well. That is why Niger and Ghana have working refineries...they sell the fuel at a profit.
You lie again!!

We lost four refineries to corruption not subsidy.

Subsidy does not make local refining unattractive. Rather, it should make it more attractive cause its almost a guarantee for profitability regardless of market conditions.

Niger and Ghana refining capacity is far lower than that of Nigeria. Niger refinery is just 20,000 bpd while all Nigeria's modular refineries alone have a combined capacity of 50,000. So stop making it look like Niger is better than Nigeria in terms of local refining. Their refinery was also shutdown for many years.

As for Ghana, their biggest refinery cannot even refine their grade of crude and it's expected to get feed from Nigeria and Saudi Arabia so stop glamourizing this small countries in a bid to put Nigeria down

Why can you not address corruption? Is it that in your worldview, corruption does not exist in Nigeria. Because you never address it. You only concoct false figures to argue that the people must pay more and more and that this is all there is to the problem.

Is corruption not involved in the problem? Is corruption indeed not the root of the problem?

Well, it is true that when petrol is sold for a profit, nothing like scarcity and subsidy scams and smuggling exists.

Such things exist in countries that do subsidy.
Is it also subsidy that makes rice and car smuggling attractive in Nigeria?

When have you ever heard of scarcity in Saudi or Libya and they have subsidy far more than Nigeria's

They also have refineries even with subsidy. I guess your theory does not reach them. You can come forward with your excuse for them now. Population, riches etc

Gbam thank you very much, this is the simple truth which every sane person knows. However that deluded poster will NEVER address the issue of corruption. He will ETERNALLY render fake calculations to prove that the only problem was subsidy. Subsidy in itself was never a problem, only corruption balloned it absurdly and made it a problem, and the removal of subsidies and devaluation of currencies is an age old IMF/ World Bank prescription which has never worked anywhere and has only ever destroyed every economy it has been implemented in.

This is a historical fact.
