It’s not uncommon to hear non-supporters ask “what would Obi have done differently?” “every presidential candidate promised to remove subsidy.”

But the main question has always been how.

Below is a documented steps of how Obi intended to go about subsidy removal which wouldn’t have thrown the country into the kind of chaos and crisis we are into right now.

Now, can you compare this to the disaster we currently have?

Pay as you go presidency.
Imagine, from the same one who said in January 2023 that he was going to remove subsidy on his first day in office. Policy doesn't work like that, like write and erase, trial by error. Inconsistency is what such breeds, no clarity of purpose, except where the wind directs.

The truth is, none of these people have a clear-cut idea of how to go about it, sticking to Western Economic books is not a long-term solution to our problems. We need an African solution. The same Western economic experts that we are looking up to, the least of them is owing 3 trillion in debt, but the same people will cry foul when we try to borrow 2 billion.

Easier said than done. PandoraObi is full of theories that have failed in China and India - Obi’s favorite reference countries. He has a chance of turning the State that he governed for 8-years. His theories didn’t work then and he won’t work now. You judge a person by his precedents and the man’s work and act speaks failure and can not be trusted.

Oga, hope you are enjoying the mess your Drug Master has turned this country into?

There's no comparison between a man that has workable plans/manifesto to a man without plans, who had never appeared for any interview or debate during campaign.

Tinubu will continue giving excuses and be blaming past regimes, which he was part of, till the 1st tenure runs out, just like his predecessor.

If you guys never get sense, even up till now, I'm not sure that'd ever come through.

He didn't say it. He only made general statement here.

I wonder at times if some people think that Tinubu is enjoying the insecurities.

Tackling insecurities is a general statement, it's not as easy as he's saying. We all can drive very well and we tend to blame the driver when accidents occur.

But when you find yourself on the driver's seat then you know how far. That's exactly what Tinubu is going through.

The only thing I feel disappointed about is his failure to reduce cost of governance.

Oh, I remember, all he's interested in is having his name listed as one of the presidents of this shithole. Well, he has achieved that so you lots can enjoy your suffering

Ask the fake Chicago certificate forger to answer that question for you.

PO is a rational human being but you people refused to see the wisdom God has gifted him to steer the Ship of Nigeria.

Your Buffon came and removed subsidy 100% and what's the consequence? Chaos, hunger, poverty, insecurity, and bitterness allover the country. He succeeded in rolling Nigeria back by over 25 years in just one year. He broke Guinness world record as the worst president in Africa.

If I were you people, I'll remain mute forever. Even the holy book says "the fool is considered to be wise if keeps his silence".

100% or 50% , how much was the subsidy being paid per liter before removing it. Did Obi know how much the 50% will be? Even NNPC did not know. Obi is a boy!

What I saw there are impractical “I will-s”. Each step he talked about as (p)requisite towards the subsidy removal needs explicit presentation on how to arrive at and/or implement them.
This is definitely an obvious case of deceit and pretense.

Delegate it to Shettima...

We should delegate the insecurity blame to Shettima and delegate the economic crisis and hardship to Tinubu?

Buhari used to deny being aware of the problems of the country during his time. While during the emilokan, we don't even know if he's aware or not.... He's just there, focusing on destroying the country on a daily.

Any plan to remove subsidy and boost local production by pricing in naira that doesn't include tackling smuggling of petroleum products is NOT going to succeed.

It’s Nairaland that allows you to continue to post your made-up rubbish. Your GBAJUE PETER OBI was severally asked at various forums how he intended going about it and he always could only manage to ramble on senselessly.

Peter Obi and his boy Pat Utomi both insisted that fuel subsidy had to go in its entirety when they were campaigning.

You lot are FRAUDS!

You people love to be posting jagons on nairaland but u are still believing failure agulu politicians when video evidence is outside there that Obi said he would remove subsidy completely in a first day he resumed office. What are you telling us here. Tinubu, Atiku and Obi will failed Nigerians. What Nigerians need has been analyze by Obi followers and a failure like him Nollywood Ken in LP. Nigerians need a new brain not all these failure politicians

By not appointing IG of Police on the basis of any affiliation to pass relationships, ethnicity and religion, look for the best brain in the police to be the IGP and ensure that Commissioners of Police and the police institution are properly monitored, evaluated and well funded. Not appointing people like the former Governor of Zamafara State and former Governor of Jigawa both failures as Ministers of Defense, what are they defending when terrorism over ran their region during their tenure.

Insecurity is the most basic thing to tackle.

Gen Sani Abacha....as despotic as he was made a firm statement...

"Any Insurgency that lasts more than 24 hours, a government official has a hand in it.”

The Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police are more than capable of rooting out terrorism in Nigeria.

I firmly believe this

The OP speaks,as if he is one of the inner caucuses of the LP,or have you seen Politicians standing on the same spot, even in USA because Reality is different from Perception.
The Truth is that No one even Knew that he same NNPC- had Sold All Our Crude FORWARD until we( Nigerians) were confronted by No Money But Govt had to resort to Borrowing! That is unfair on the part of Buhari govt to do all they did - by Not Telling Nigeria that Our Revenues- from Crude Oil had been Sold to Foreign Companies/ Buyers
Those in NNPC, DISCOS, and other Govt Agencies and Depts, should rot in jail by their Criminalities e.g Air Nigeria that was never intended to Fly by those in Charge then.
Very Shameful Indeed.

It's just basics without any details. Even Tinubu or Atiku could come up with that

It's not basic. It's a strategy. Those decisions have macro and micro economic effects. The three candidates have different strategies for handling subsidy removal. Tinubu handled it like a jungle man and the consequences are weighty. Now, we are paying for it.
