if we had stuck with Rohr, we would have been far better than what we are today, now we are stuck with a make-shift coach with no significant experience but we want him to perform miracles, even if we win today, i hope the day he loses we will not call for his head
complete lies. Rohr wasn't progressive

You cannot beat Rohr's Benin like that. Rohr is good at parking the bus. Also we don't even have the midfielders to achieve that.

The best thing AE can do is to set the team up the way it was during the nations cup. This is the same squad that executed that tournament. If we try to consolidate up front we would lose. We have to play conservatively so that Benin can play deep also and free up our wingers. This way we either draw or win.

If AE tries anything experimental, like high possession. The players may not adapt and it will lead to confusion. This is what Rohr is expecting. That AE would want to prove a point.
This has always been my point but many still believe we can play like Man City.

Like you have rightly said I just hope AE won’t go the Finidi route in trying to impress anybody with possession football just get your win even if you need to play haram football, na win people go remember o.

Nigeria 🆚 Central African Republic

I don't think he played South Africa when we lost o, the game that's supposed to be there is Guinea-Bissau last year, we lost 0–1 thanks to an Uzoho masterclass 👌🏾
thanks 🙌🏻, yeaa he played against SA in uyo, that was his first senior international game for SE in 2017

Eguavoen use under 1yr give us Afcon bronze medal winning Africa’s heavyweight in group stage(Ghana/Senegal) with handsome scoreline and beautiful football
Rohr use 3years winning rookies(Guinea/Burundi) and collected wotowoto from madagascar to lift bronze medal.. oga forget that rohr abeg… he no better pass eguavoen

No offense, and it's really difficult for me to say this because I respect a lot of people on this thread, but the way some of you talk on this thread can make a new born baby seem smart. It's because of people like you that our football is in the current rot it's in. Na people like you dey NFF glass house dey destroy our football.

Which one is Eguavoen used one year to give us bronze and Rohr used three years? How many tournaments were available to Rohr during his tenure?

Rohr was appointed in 2016 and before he was appointed, Nigeria failed to qualify for back to back AFCON editions (2015 and 2017). The man brought the Super Eagles out of the grave by qualifying for the 2019 AFCON after his predecessors couldn't do so twice, and you're saying Eguavoen A.K.A "You know Guardiola" is better than him?

A lot of the players Rohr used in 2019 were playing in the AFCON for the first time. Can you compare them to the seasoned players that were available to Eguavoen when he won a bronze?

If Eguavoen was so good, why did we get knocked out in the Round of 16 of the 2021 AFCON by Tunisia's second eleven, even when he used the same players that Rohr used to win a bronze in 2019?

If Eguavoen was so good, why couldn't we qualify for the 2022 World Cup, something that Genort Rohr did so seamlessly by defeating African Giants at that time, like Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia. Oh, lest I forget, he also qualified with A GAME TO SPARE. 😲 shocked

It's okay to hate, but make una dey hate with facts. Make sure you have facts to back up your hatred.

As long as people like you continue to rubbish Rohr's efforts, people like me will always be available to call out your BS and nah long epistles like this one I go dey use quote una. grin

there is no way i will read this and not reply you…we go drag this arguement enter 2030..ok let me start by saying
1. the first bolded; is not necessary ok, come clean with clean arguement and dont try to use shading language else the respect you say you have for people on this thread will be vain and in the mud, cos uve disrespected already

2. second bolded; Eguavoen jus also came into the fray in 2005 and led us to a bronze medal in 2006 which was his first major tournament(it means if he had stayed 3years before afcon 2006 who knws where we would reached) your rohr stayed 3years before afcon 2019, he has even gathered experience from 2018 WC as a coach no b so?)

3. you think if rohr was employed on that same emergency basis of 2022 WCQ he would have scaled through Ghana?…bros las las na draw he go play with ghana, which was what Eguavoen did

4. A lot of players rohr took to afcon were playing for the first time, fine we agree, but oga those guys were playing top level football week in week out, we assembled our best players to that afcon, not as if we carried amateurs (which more praises should be given to late keshi on that regard) and again you cant compare world cup to afcon, same squad that went to the world cup were the ones that played 2019 Afcon, so even without rohr a good coach would still have taken our player even to the Afcon final

5. we respect rohr highly for qualifying us to the Afcon after missing two editions, but stop making it look as if, if rohr had not come we wont qualify for Afcon again…we missed afcon in 2012 and then a Nigerian came and qualify us for 2013 edition.

6. “if eguavoen was good why cant he take super eagels past round 16”…if e sure for NFF make them sack Eguavoen after “probably” qualifying for afcon 2025 and bring in rohr lets see where he will take us to
i use to support rohr when he was our coach…but make all of ina rest, he was not our best coach ever.
If he was good he for still qualify us to world cup 3round qualifiers with A GAME TO SPARE….shey for group stage wey cape verde wan use our eyes see pepper

According to score Nigeria, we’ll start with Bash Iwobi and Ndidi in midfield and Boniface will start from the bench.
According to owngoal, Boniface will start with Ndidi playing in an advance role.

We shall see who is correct

Rohr started well with Nigeria but over time, he regressed... the sign were there for all to see.. he started playing like a coward... we were struggling to beat supposed minnows..
Countries like Benin republic are his level cus they have the profile to execute his style of football that relies on parking the bus.. Eguavon isnt really that good, but to say we would have been in a better place if we hadn't sacked Rohr is a lie... There is a reason why he was appointed by Benin republic and not top teams like Morocco and Algeria after he was sacked..

until people learn to be objective in their judgement and analysis ... till tomorrow they will still argue that Rohr would have won the world cup with the Super eagles ... Rohr is tactically deficient , and he is just a one direction manager , he will not do anything extra ordinary if we still have him ... we have a team that is mobile , we have young guys who still have it in them , we have one of the best striker in the world . .. Rohr style with this crop of players would have been a disaster . let's put Rohr in our past . he wouldn't have done anything special .

Absolutely spot on... the moment I knew Rohr had nothing to offer was during those pre- 2018 world cup games.. some tactical changes were glaring in the team which he refused to adjust until the last minute.. here are some of them:
1. Iwobi is best suited as an AM.. Rohr used him as a winger for too long until after the 2018 world cup
2. 3-5-2 was our best formation against top opponents as evident in the England game.. Rohr only switched to it after the defeat to Croatia
3. Our midfield list was always thin.. he never corrected that
After the world cup, it was just formation and InshaAllah...

Best we deploy him where he prefers or regularly plays

The same Rohr we criticised sorely for parading a lean midfield has now eight midfielders in his squad.
Something is very wrong, and it is clear that the whole blame is not with him.
The lean midfield affected his style of play.

Let us not underestimate Benin.
They may have one or two Kelechi Nwakali that is better than the midfielders we parade.
