There is outrage in Osun State following prolonged incarceration of a banker, Mrs. Awanat Ajayi, who is being held in the Ilesa Correctional Facility.

The Spokesperson Of Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, had recently disclosed the arrest of First Bank manager, Talabi Adeniyi over N650m fraud used for Proof of Fund (POF).

Ajayi who is one of the bankers under Talabi who used to get money for POF from interested members of the public was arrested after she allegedly collected money from a Magistrate.

However, the business deal went awry when Talabi allegedly lost N650m during the business deal.

Hence, Ajayi was arraigned before an Osun State Magistrate’s Court presided over by Olusegun Ayilara for collecting a sum of N10m from Magistrate Oyindamola Daramola.

She was subsequently remanded despite an oral bail application made by her lawyer who noted that the offence was a bailable one and that she has a few weeks to deliver, coupled with the fact that she has Hepatitis B.

In August, Olusegun Ayilara granted her stringent bail conditions noting that a monarch and level 14 officer should be her surety with a deposit of N5m before she can be released.

On Wednesday, during the sitting, counsel to the banker noted that Mrs Ajayi had delivered a baby through a Cesarean section surgery.

Magistrate Ayilara told the banker’s husband that giving birth is not a technical reason for discharge, noting that “Your wife’s bail condition has not been perfected, delivery not a technical reason for discharge. This is the law and even me doesn’t have power over it, it is only a higher court that can say otherwise.”

The magistrate is right. She doesn't necessarily deserve any special treatment many many Nigerians go through the same treatment without it being reported.

The administration of criminal justice laws need to be amended to prepare for eventualities as this.

Last, last, release the madam, where she dey go when she is a nursing mother - bail should be given.

Technicality. I don’t think there’s a problem here keeping her locked up, let us leave sentiments aside

People tend to abuse power too much, give someone who has been playing innocent, just small power and you will see his/her true colour, they have forgotten that one day, they will die and 6ft is their final destination, not even their air condition office...

We see all these power abuse here also from most of the mo.d, make unah thread with caution, nobody knows tomorrow..

BTW: OP, I saw what you did there, so you have to crop out original osun prison, knowing that is not looking good and joined it with a better prison, so as to save face from the international world...

That's the law. If you don't meet bail conditions, if you like born triplet, na prison you go born them. If advance countries, prison hospitals are one of the best in those countries with very good facilities and doctors. Just not in Nigeria.

Only in Nigeria.

Amaka sunnberger would have remained in custody till today if she was in Nigeria and probably be awaiting trial for weeks if not months. Some dunce are ok with such way of life because they have not been directly affected.

It's quite unfortunate that her clients failed her.
POF is a common practice in most banks, but it seems her clients defrauded her.

If people followed the tenets of the bible, their lives will have been easier. The bible that says GODLINESS AND CONTENTMENT IS GREAT GAIN no lie.if she had stayed on God with CONTENTMENT, she might have grown at God's pace and made more than 650 million. Now the 650 million she no see, job, gone, life gone, freedom gone while raising children by a predator in inconvenient situations and those children might become likely predators and potential criminals if God doesn't rescue those children because of the circumstances and environment they were born (through no fault of theirs)

If you are earning 50k monthly and you have CONTENTMENT, your 50k will look like you're earning million every month and you know the thing with people who lack CONTENTMENT, if you like be earning 500 million naira every week, they will still be lusting after the money of another person who is collecting 2 thousand every week.it is the very reason politicians are collecting various entitlements and contracts running into millions naira yet they will be stealing carton of milk and spaghetti and depriving the vulnerable who really need those foodstuffs for their survival.

By now you should know its a mental disorder that you are collecting N700 million plus other bonuses cars, drivers and other utilities funded by government yet you're locking garri and rice inside store during covid period
