1. Yes, if the name on the account matches that of the VISA applicant or your funder as indicated in your VISA application.

2. You might however, receive 221g/ administrative case in order for the embassy to research the legitimacy of your domiciliary account.

PS: Domiciliary account takes a bit longer to verify than a local bank with which they are more familiar.

Okayy, what are the chances of a self sponsored student visa getting approved pls?
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Ajala444: 11:27am On Sep 09
Even with the email confirmation from the embassy, OIS is still charging 48k for drop off.
Also from what I have gathered they are charging that 48k to anyone who comes to pick up their passport as well even those who selected to pick up at DHL.
It is a rip off in my opinion but where do we direct our complaints?

OyoTunjiUSA:

🀠

Your question is being asked in the eleventh hour.

1. It seems you will be opting for paid service drop-off since the confirmation email is not forthcoming from the embassy.

Visit this (new authorised company) website to register:

www.oisservices.com/services

2. On that page, locate "US VISA APPLICATION DOCUMENTS PICK UP/DROP OFF" section, scroll down to the page and click on "Click Here" button. They have staffs you can chat or talk to but i think it's a paid service without the embassy email.

quote author=Ikebabay post=131525350]The US is changing their visa services provider this August and I believe that is why you could not pay in the bank.

I copied the following info from the article they shared on their page. If your travel is not urgent, I'll suggest you wait till August 26 when the new visa appointment website goes live. It looks like you may be able to pay on the new site direct.

"August 8, 2024 – Last day to pay visa fees in cash at the bank.

August 15, 2024 – Last day to access your account on ustraveldocs.com to pay the visa application fee online, schedule appointments, and contact customer service.

August 21, 2024 – Last day to drop off your documents at Premium Delivery locations.

August 23, 2024 – Last day to drop off your documents at regular courier locations for delivery to the Embassy or Consulate.

August 26, 2024– New visa appointment website goes live. Fee payments, appointment scheduling, and customer service are available. New document drop-off and pickup locations are available."

That said, if you have the GTB app, you might still be able pay online today. Someone can also pay on your behalf using the GTB app.

For fees, the current B1/B2 fee is N305250. The fee in USD remains 185USD but the amount in naira changes as the exchange rate fluctuates.

Hi,

The problem is- as far as I can tell, no one has mentioned here that they received a pickup mail within the last 2 weeks. However, two people have mentioned that they tracked their application status on CEAC and after seeing their visas had been issued, they decided to visit DHL (without a pickup mail). From DHL, they were both directed to OIS (the new service provider) and both were able to collect their passports at OIS.

As I recall, they applied in two different states and as such had different DHL offices for their document delivery. You can go back some pages on this thread to read their experiences.

All the best!

Sinecera89:
Greetings everyone.
Please now that transition to a new visa site is almost complete, I want to find out if DHL is still being used for the distribution of stamped visa passports as indicated in our choice of document delivery center.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hello!
If you have already created a profile on the new website https://www.usvisaappt.com/visa/
You can easily make your visa fee payment using the Pay4Me app.

I used them for my Sevis fee payment and it was processed immediately.
They help with visa fees too

1. Both USA embassy and OIS mentioned free service on their websites , therefore , the two entities must indicate when, and how an applicant is going to access it. You can complain to the fraud unit of the US embassy.

🀠

1. The chances of a self-funded applicant is same with those of 3rd party funded. All the USA embassy wants to see and verify is your sources of income. Naturally, a student (Bsc especially ) is not expected to fund him/herself because he/she is not expected to focus on working, besides, a 20hrs a week job can't foot your bill, but a matured/retired/professional applicant (MBA, MSc, M1,PhD) can display a well established or saved sources of income.

1. Yes. DS-160 expires after 1 year, but your interview appointment is still valid. To buttress this fact, the USA embassy even stipulates that " your DS-160 uploaded photo must be very recent of not more than 6 months.

2. Go and fill another DS-160 with your recent photo. Yes of course , DS-160 is your main VISA application, so there will always be an avenue to upload it, and update it on any given portal.

PS: You will receive the mail. The update is still ongoing , and the embassy has millions of applicants to deal with.

Thank you for your reply. She never got me an appointment date that is what I am trying to say. Will I still receive the email from the US embassy?

Also I created a new file on Avis , but I stopped because it was requesting some personal details and I did not bother proceeding because I felt I havent done enough research, some days later she then sent me a message asking me to watch out for an email. I am now confused on what to do because I have been waiting since March. What will now happen? Since I have created another profile on the new site although didnt complete it ?
Pls can I send u a mail? I have an interview soon and I need ur guidance

1. The official (maximum) processing time for IW according to the USA embassy is 8 - weeks (2 months), therefore, your application which changed to approved is still on per with the official timeframe.

2. Your husband has almost 100% clean application record (based on how his expired VISA was used or the authenticity of his application generally), that was why his IW processing was a piece of cake, and they did not want to waste his time ( based on his submitted DS-160) in the case he needs to travel asap.

PS: The USA embassy hold long with your application, probably because you did not use the expired VISA, or they want to verify the authenticity of some of your family applications, or how your expired VISA was used etc, using you as a specimen. Anyways, you can now be dancing.

I had my IW appointment yesterday (29th August) at OIS Services dropoff centre in Lagos. I was scheduled initially for October 2024 then the embassy automatically rescheduled me for the 24th of July but I was out of the country so I had to reschedule that and it was on the 29th August.
Following the communication that the DHL will no longer be used for dropoff, I got an email last week Friday to go to OIS on the day of my appointment 2 hours after my initially scheduled appointment.
I got to the OIS centre at 11am (my appointment was at 9am) and there was a crowd outside. I was told I had to get a number and I was given number 108 meanwhile they just called number 80 to come in.
I was not called in till 12 noon and we were kept waiting in a room till about 1pm when we were called into the room where the drop off was being done. I was there till 2:45pm and the process was very slow with few people attending to the large crowd of people.
Additionally, we all had to pay 48,000 Naira which they called service fee for using the OIS facility.
It was a long and tiring process and it is obvious the OIS team are not fully ready to take over this process. The office is not fully furnished and they are just taking it as it goes for now.
Hopefully, it will normalise within one month. If you have IW to schedule, I advise to wait till they get themselves before scheduling.

PS: I am still not able to create an account on the website so I am unable to track my application.

Thanks so much for this.

Please what documents did you need to take to OIS for your IW appointment?

I booked an appointment for my mum on the OIS website and I'll let her know about the 48k payment as well, but just to reduce stress on the elderly lady, abeg. She has not yet received an email from AVITS, she just has her old IW appointment letter from USTraveldocs (appointment booked before the change in August), GTB payment receipt and DS160 confirmation. Does she need another appointment letter from AVITS please?

Thanks.

Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Purpleplus: 6:06pm On Sep 09
I don't think one can really predict how this visa thing works, my husband didn't even use his expired visa, I used mine just once, was in the US for 4 weeks in 2022. Within the 2yrs validity of the previous visa I went to the UK and Europe twice or thrice, he only went to London once. I was telling him before we submitted that if they call him for not using his visa, he's on his own, but his passport still came out way before mine without any question asked. I wasn't really worried per se, because I didn't have a baby or broke any of my visa rules.

1. Either way round, the USA embassy used your application to do background checks on your family VISA renewal (IW). Too much of travel (to different countries) is at time counterproductive, because that is one of the characteristics of money launderers, terrorists, human traffickers, etc.

1. Contact the USA embassy only if 60 days have passed after you have submitted the requested document (s). If it is not up to 60 days that you have submitted the required documents, the embassy won't reply your query.

PS: No action is needed on your part while administrative process is on going. Once your submitted documents is verified, your visa will be issued.

Wao thanks for sharing . Looks like I’ve got to brace up for same fate . My last Dropbox I didn’t use the visa at all. I visited Canada , UK and several Schengen countries many times within the period but just didn’t have reason to visit the US from 2022 to 2024. Now it’s been almost one month of waiting since I submitted my passport. Guess we’re the unlucky ones in terms of fast processing times cos I’ve seen many that the whole process took like 2 weeks max .
Sad thing is I only realized too little too late that for interview waiver you can’t request for your passport until processing is done which makes absolutely no sense. I wish I could
