OyoTunjiUSA: Thanks for the detailed response. Does the date on the USA embassy appointment matter? It's not allowing me reschedule and the previous date I booked isn't available on OIS. The IW letter can be downloaded from the AVITS site.... not sure if they will still send an email

customised87: The screenshot was from the IW letter. The OIS acknowledgment slip just had my information and appointment date/time |
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by OyoTunjiUSA(m): 6:10am On Sep 11 |
primusmaximus: π€ 1. The date assigned to you by the US embassy is of utmost importance, because that is when they expect you to appear or go and drop your VISA application. OIS date should not be more relevant than that of the USA embassy, except , if the USA embassy has entered into an agreement with OIS, thereby accepting OIS dates to override. PS: Call both organisations to verify. PS: The sending of IW qualification email applies to especially , new applicants, and since the embassy says, those with previous appointments still have their appointments recognised, then you may go ahead without waiting for the qualification email. PS: All IW VISA applicants should also note that, the USA embassy can summon them for physical interviews, despite having qualified for IW, IF NEED BE. π |

Please i need help.... I had booked my IW appointment on the old platform for first week in september. I have been waiting for the mail from the new site but still have not gotten any mail.I have created a profile and still have not received any mail and i also cannot explain how the old appointment confirmation mail disappeared from my GMAIL. I have mailed them severally, no response, had a chat with a representative through the chat option, but nothing concrete. |

Hello, From below you said, "The date assigned to you by the US embassy is of utmost importance, because that is when they expect you to appear or go and drop your VISA application." Drop the visa application where exactly? Please confirm. Thank you. OyoTunjiUSA: |

Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by DFCO: 9:14am On Sep 11 |
naivasha: Please can you clarify, i used the generate as well to make a transfer payment. Does it automatically show that you have paid after 24 hours or do you have to input the payment transaction details after you make he transfer? I used the generate deposit slip to transfer around 5am yesterday. Am i to input the receipt number using the bank deposit details section or does it automatically show I have made payment? Its over 24 hours and I dont see my payment reflected. Thanks |

Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by naivasha: 10:05am On Sep 11 |
So from what I remember, when I selected to pay using the bank transfer option, the first screenshot below is what I saw. I clicked on the "Generate" button at the bottom and then it now produced the second screenshot showing additional details. I followed what was written on the right hand side for ELECTRONIC TRANSFER (EFT) INSTRUCTIONS. Since I don't have an FBN account I clicked on the link highlighted in blue which took me to a payment portal. I believe it was at this portal that I was asked to fill in some details like name, phone number, email address and (probably) most importantly, the Amentum Reference Number. I did not use the receipt number in the first screenshot anywhere. If you are using the option of "Bank Deposit Details" it may be different but as I didn't use that option I don't know. The email with the Proof of Payment receipt was sent within a few minutes. Payment was made on Monday evening around 6:30 and by Tuesday around 4/5pm when I logged into AVITS I was able to proceed with scheduling an appointment. I did not receive any notification that I could continue with the application. I just kept checking until I saw it was possible to go on. Hope this helps. DFCO: 1 Like

Hi, Thank you for the update. There seems to be so little information on pickups. For me, I submitted IW documents in Lagos. My visa was issued over a week ago and still no pickup mail. Within this period, I have used the chat box on the new site twice and in both instances they asked me to wait for pickup instructions. I decided to sign up on OIS. From the OIS website, my passport is ready for pickup, where it is exactly is what I don't know. Anyway, I have booked a free pickup and will go searching for my passport. I will share an update once I have gone for the appointment. All the best to everyone! beautyuche: |

naivasha: π€ 1. How can you be able to give @DFCO a detailed explanation of how you made your payment , and yet missed the simplest part of my narrative? If you are not an IW VISA applicant you can disregard my message, otherwise, go back to this same page 26, and re-read the message i gave to @primusmaximus. π |

Hi, Check your Spam email, you might have missed an email from ustraveldocs or Avits. I received the email instructing me to attend my appointment on the same day I booked a few days before the appointment day. Sparks12: 1 Like |

Thank you for the update, I got the receipt eventually, but when I got to Walter Carrington the touts outside were telling people to print another receipt that carries the cgi logo, they said this calmly like they really want to help you, but when i got inside I asked one of the staffs and he told me I was scammed, I saw almost every of the applicant with that same receipt meaning they paid 30-25k, cos the story they are cooking is that without the CGI receipt, one will be turned back. I negotiated to 15k, maybe many people will be able to negotiate too and pay like 25-20k, the bottom line is that I got scammed and other people that fell for that story too. I want to advise anyone that sees this and is going for an interview no matter the persusation pls don't make a photocopy or print out of your data page, or any other document that is been preached to you, it is a scam they don't ask for many things those guy always use scope to sell it to people. DS160, Appointment letter and your receipt are enough. Main docs OyoTunjiUSA: 3 Likes |

Hi Sorry about your experience. Those touts have been using the same tricks for ages. They present themselves as experts and ask applicants to carry out unnecessary tasks in order for them to earn dishonest money. Eg they would ask applicants to staple- it will turn out the embassy doesn't need the staples. Imagine if one then pays the ridiculous amounts the touts charge and the visa is denied. It would be extremely infuriating! As djbaju said, ignore them 100%. All the best to those who are making physical appearances at the embassy! djbaju: 1 Like |

I hope people will eventually see this info before their application date, so that they will not get scammed too. I got in 6:45am came out 9:15am, I was on the waiting area for over 1hr 20 mins before it got to my turn, there are just 2 counters conducting interview for close to 80 people, and 1 of them takes a break after a few task. In my over 1 hr standing I say just 4 people got the white sheet. 1 clergy man, 2 Nigerian familys; husband and wife no children and 1 indian family consist of Mother and her 3 children. The rest na baba blue. 3 of it came from 1 counter the second counter seems like a sadist na so so blue. Make we go dey chop UK dey go and other European countries ire oo Ikebabay: 1 Like |

djbaju: Hey π€ 1. Touts are outside ASO ROCK, they are outside the WHITE HOUSE in America, even the USA embassy website recognised them and says " beware of touts outside the embassy gate. 2. I was hoodwinked into lot of money 3 times outside the embassies (despite being born and bred in Lagos) before my eyes were finally opened. The truth is, very few applicants in some tight situations will always need their services by all means (except if they want to forfeit their appointment and turn back home), but the most important is to always familiarise oneself with application procedures. 3. @djbaju thank God for your life and sorry for your ordeal. PS: These touts are not the kind of touts that broke bottles and fight in motor parks. They are sometimes professionals with ties and suits. π |

πππ this ones are superb in this venture, the only way to win this game is to get informed before hand, if not they will format whatever one belief is, and being anxious to go in and get ur visa also will make some people fall prey to this. Thank you boss, thank you for constant updates on here to our questions OyoTunjiUSA: |
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Ikebabay: 12:54pm On Sep 11 |
Hi, Yes, you can definitely get a visit visa without applying with your spouse. There is no rule that stipulates you must apply as a couple. Your spouse might have no interest in traveling. Some people might even say the fact that your spouse is not traveling is a way to prove ties to Nigeria i.e you have something to return back to in Nigeria and won't abscond in the US. All the best! Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Ikebabay: 1:02pm On Sep 11 |
This your post had me laughing. The guys are "good" and if you trek from beginning of Walter Carrington down to the embassy gates, you will meet different groups. So if the first set did not get you, by the time you are getting closer to the embassy gate, you may have started contemplating if they are correct or not and so the group closer to the gate might actually be the ones to "get you" πππ As a rule of thumb, no matter the embassy or submission centre I go, I study all that they require from me and make sure I have the documents. I also make a photocopy of my passport datapage (even if they don't ask) After I have all required documents, I must enter the embassy or collection centre first, before I listen to any request for any extra document. Besides, the embassies/application centre usually provide such services too; even if it will be expensive. I would rather get inside and know if anything extra is needed than patronise the touts. djbaju: 2 Likes |

Hello house, Is there any change to the IW process with the new booking site and process? Do you still need to book an appointment in the future? Or you just go with your items to the new dropoff center? Appreciate any feedback thanks |

@ikebabay I am also interested in pickups too. My visa was issued this week and I haven't received a pickup email. I have created an account on the OIS website too. I am unclear as to next steps. Will wait for further updates from you based on your experience. Ikebabay: 1 Like |

HI OyoTunjiUSA, What do you think or any gurus in the house? My cousin's visa got "Approved" and later "issued" dated August 26th. He had earlier gone to pick it up but was told the passport is not yet with them (OIS) and he needs to book an appointment. This was later tracked this week on the IOS site and the system gave feedback "Your passport is available for pick-up". The appointment was booked on OIS site but the acknowledged appointment slip indicated the passport is at DHL Office - Muri Okunola Sandiland Arcade Building, Plot 230, Muri Okunola Street,Victoria Island. but on getting to DHL at the appointed time, he was told the passport is at OIS and on getting to OIS at Victoria Island, he was told oh no! it is with DHL. Now, i am told people are gathered at OIS not having a clue were thier passport is? Is anyone having this same challenge? |

Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Ikebabay: 3:41pm On Sep 11 |
Hi, I am in your cousin's shoes- visa issued but no pickup mail. I booked an appointment on OIS website and I was planning to simply give it a try and attempt to collect my passport. This is because at least 2 people reported here recently that they were able to collect their passports at OIS without pickup mails. One thing I noticed however, is that the OIS website does not inform you where exactly your passport is. It tells you your passport is ready for pickup and gives you the option to select pickup location. Under pickup location options, I saw multiple cities including Abuja. I selected Lagos because I submitted in Lagos. I put in my details and on the appointment page, I saw DHL Muri Okunola. I have not attended the appointment so I cannot comment beyond this but this update from you is making me wonder whether I should bother going; now that DHL and OIS both claim they don't have your cousin's passport. olasubomy: |
