I was instructed to go to the Ikoyi marriage registry, which I did, but I was then informed that the local government marriage registry does not perform legally valid marriages, should one wish to utilise it as a means of going abroad. I have to go through the recertification process all over again. Alternatively, I can use the church's services to perform a church wedding, and they will collaborate with the church to provide a marriage certificate that is deemed legally binding. This is not to argue that marriages performed by local government officials are illegal; rather, it cannot be approved by the foreign affairs ministry.

Nope I didn’t. They conducted full court marriage for me. I thought I could use it for oversea traveling.

Ok, i guess that may be the issue, because emphasises was laid on the e-certificate for us at our LG for purpose of traveling verifications and official verification.

You can visit the local govt where you did your court wedding for this sha. For your details to be collected and uploaded to the FG allocated portal for this.
