Ibraheem Labaeka, popular Islamic singer, has resigned from his position as Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

In a letter dated Thursday, September 12, 2024, Labaeka announced his resignation, stating that he is uncomfortable being paid for doing nothing.

While expressing his dissatisfaction with the role he was assigned, he added that his conscience does not allow him to stay in a job where his contributions are not necessary.

In a now-trending letter on social media, the singer further explained, “I believe[b] in being purposeful and impactful in whatever I do, and unfortunately, this position did not align with my principles[/b].”

While appreciating the governor for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet, he noted, “Since my appointment is based on public trust, I cannot continue to break that trust by taking a salary for doing nothing.”

The way we are running the country and we want progress.how can a govt(we know that is what all governors and even the presidency does) be paying people salary who does next to noting.No wonder that year Ngige was saying Nigeria made more money when civil servants were told to stay at home during COVID-19 era as no one could steal from the generated fund.Nigeria Nigeria

Majority of our law makers and reps members are collecting salaries and huge allowances for doing almost nothing.

Many of them are dispensable.

There are hundreds of thousands like him happily taking such salary in exchange for doing nothing. The reason production is suffering. Who wants to create real goods with hard labour when govt simply prints money, sell crude, take loans then pay idlers who go after what others suffer to produce?

Not everyone is money hungry for those of you thinking your money can buy everyone.

Some of us have Gods blessing which is more than cash.

In addition we also have the cash as well.

A peaceful conscience is something a lot of these people don't have and will never have.

This one is truly not a real APC member cause this is exactly what APC does, the just give their members job and appointments without set out duties to do reason why you see APC official with over bloated aides with no job description

Please people of Kwara, this man must be protected at all cost. A black doesn't resign from a political positions because of the enormous gains. They would rather die in power than to resign
