Below is a video on Egypt. It spends 50% of government revenue on debt servicing and it's in such a mess. Look at what it's doing to it's currency, the Egyptian pound.

Egypt is even more fortunate. It can turn to the IMF to provide it massive loans for a soft landing. A loan will bring in an infusion of dollars, which will help the battered Egyptian pound. The Naira does not have such a cushion.

Meanwhile, in 2022, Nigeria spent over 100% of revenue on debt servicing.

Tinubu can not turn to the IMF for a bailout because Nigerians no go gree. These make any reforms more painful. If there were more dollars in circulation, the Naira won't be as bad as it is
