It is always important to prove your intention to leave the country after your studies. Although many countries do not require return tickets from students, it is unpredictable with SA. I'll advise you buy a refundable return ticket and cancel once you are in the country.

Thank you

@hunee @africankel ,
Are there people who applied recently and got their visas in record time 2/3 weeks .
Which platform did you use?
I need to adjudge which has been fastest recently.

TBH, that question is hard to answer right now, cos applications has been hanging for weeks as i learnt.
Home Affairs is currently running on low capacity and scrutiny of applications has been heightened.
This is the update.
So if you have anyone or know anyone visiting SA , advice them to arrange and upload the right documents to avoid refusals.
Stamp anything stamp-able because home affairs will confirm.
The possibility of delays of adjudication is as a result of delayed feedbacks on authentication of applications from providers or third parties.

Hi All,

I applied via Vfs in July but I got denied because they couldn’t authenticate my bank statement. Now I applied again via dha on August 16th but I’m yet to get a response. For both applications, I used my USD account bank statements not Naira and I don’t know if this was the reason I got denied the first time. Has anyone had this experience?

Thank you

Home Affairs refuses visas when banks do not respond to them in time.
They usually send applicants details to the banks to verify, however because of our bad culture in Nigeria of responding to mails very late or not reading them at all, they reject the visas.
So sometimes, your documents can be right, but because they dont get feedbacks from corresponding parties, they reject these visas.

Way forward:

1. Ensure you attach a reference letter from the bank
2. Ensure the first and last page of your bank statement is signed and stamped by the bank, if not all.
3. Send a corresponding mail to your bank if you notice a delay in your application; requesting them to check their mails for any possible correspondence from the home affairs(Do this through your account officer)
4. Ensure you attach original documents.
5. Processing time for E visas are 3 - 4 weeks.

Good-luck

I would love to try an experiment,
Anyone who has a DHA e visa and willing to try?
I want to know if one has a current visa then fills the form again, if it will allow submission?
Just to submit, you won’t proceed to add documents.
Can anyone try it out please and give feedback.
Thank you

@hunee

As a first time traveler to SA (I have been to other countries though), What do you advise?

I'm seeing E-visa option.

Does it mean I can do from any place of my comfort without going to VFS or TLS.

Just help in guilding me through to ensure my visa is granted.

Unless it changed recently, yes you can submit another application on DHA portal while your visa is still active. I've had to do it for someone before.
